Region Issues Creating ISO

Hi all,

One of our clients handed me a burnt DVD containing some security footage, asking if we could make a copy for him. Easy, I thought, I'll just make an ISO and then reburn it.

Funnily, when I tried to play back the copy DVD it says the region is not correct.

I tried mounting the ISO in DaemonTools and viewing from there, with the same result.

I've heard hints that it may be that there is only a small amount of video on the disk so something, somewhere is assuming it's a CD but I couldn't find anything further.

Can anyone help?

Cheers

Vimto

PS Sorry I don't have the log it was done on their PC to which I currently dont have access.

If your client just wants a straight copy, I assume the original disc was ok... therefore your copy will be to, even if *you* can't play it.

Regions aren't changed by reading and burning the disc. If a certain region is configured in the VIDEO_TS.IFO file on the disc then it'll be exactly the same on both discs. I don't know why it would be though, normally these things are created for 'all regions'.

You can configure your DT drive for any region - but that only matters if it's emulating a DVD-ROM disc once you've mounted it (mount the MDS if ImgBurn made one).

Get back to me when you actually have the disc or ISO in front of you.

Just to close this one down and say thanks for the help.

Turns out that it doesn't help when your client doesn't know the difference between a blank dvd-r and a blank cd-r. Not sure if that was the issue but when I did the copy here all was good.

Cheers
