Username54321 Posted June 11, 2012 Share Posted June 11, 2012 I use a LG BH10LS30 1.01, newest Firmware. Platinum BR-R 25 GB, 4x Speed. Imageburn says SK=ASC= Interpretation: Write Error. Thats a Optical disk, there is no "Write Error" how should a burner know at the writing Time that something is wrong written, it would be halft the Speed. If i click on "Retry" it says "Invalid Address For Write" And how to hell stop on a write error on a optical disk? Just write the next Sector, if there is really a write error a file would be damaged not the whole Disk. After that the Medium is unuseable, while other Burning Programms can still write a new Session to an 17% Full CD/DVD Imageburn is unable todo this(BD). BD-Rs are expensive. LIGHTNING UK! Posted June 11, 2012 Share Posted June 11, 2012 Write errors come from your drive/firmware/media combo. Your drive errors out, the program just reports them. ImgBurn doesn't do multisession so that's why you can't add data to a disc you've already burnt. Why don't you post a log so we can see what's going on. Maybe the drive is just saying the buffer is full or something, but nothing that means write error. I never seen another Operating System that say "write error" i burned about 1000 DVDs/CDs in my life never seen such. And why i can burn the same with the same drive/firmware/media combo again and this time it works? And why any hardware producer should sell a drive thats unable to burn a Bluray? Its the 3th Firmware. And still, why STOP at the report? Just continue with writing. If there really would be a write error it makes no sense to stop. It not only cant do multisession, it too cant do multivolume. Bluray are expensive, using at least 100%-17% would be a feature if you cant fix the "write errors". LIGHTNING UK! Posted June 15, 2012 Share Posted June 15, 2012 Your drive claims is supports 2x, 4x, 6x and 8x on the 'CMCMAG-BA5-000' discs you're using. If it keeps failing to burn them at your chosen speed (4x), try one of the remaining supported speeds instead. When a drive errors out it sets a couple of bytes (ASC and ASCQ) in something known as 'sense data' to values that represent the type of error. In your case, it's setting them to (ASC) 0x0C and (ASCQ) 0x00. You can look those up here ( http://www.t10.org/lists/asc-num.txt ) and see that they translate to 'Write Error'... which funnily enough is exactly what ImgBurn told you. If your drive still can't burn 'CMCMAG-BA5-000' discs (at any speed), buy/use something else. Obviously times have changed since your OS came out. You can't save into the 'Program Files' folder now (unless you have specific permissions to do so) and therefore saving a log in the same folder as ImgBurn.exe isn't possible. Usual thats for RW Media, but on R the Burner should burn from the beginning to the End. It would be very slow to burn a Sector, stop change the laser energie, go a step back and check the Sector and so on. I bought the same again cause about the first 6 of this Media works fine. I maybe can do that sometimes but not now, i cant give an opened package back. In many compiler you have somethink like this #if MACHINE WINDOWS2000 #if MACHINE WINDOWSXP #if MACHINE OTHERSTUPIDNEWWINDOWS But still whats about to continue on a "write error" with the Next Sector? This could save alot of Disks, just 1 File would be broken. Your Verify Function would be really useless if the Burner would have a Hardware verification. LIGHTNING UK! Posted June 16, 2012 Share Posted June 16, 2012 You can't jump around when burning (unless it's a BD-RE), you have to burn sequentially. If you try and burn beyond the last correctly written address (skipping even just 1 sector) you'll get an 'Invalid Address For Write' error back from the drive. There's no point in keeping going on about this, I've told you your drive is having problems burning to the discs you're using (reporting 'Write Errors' during the burn) and there's nothing I can do about that. Platinum/Bestmedia at least work better at 2x but about 1 of 20 still fail at 2x. I tryed different Bestmedia(for Example RITEK-BR2-000), too such are writeable at 6x and 8x not better than the 4x.
