ImgBurn Couldnt rip my DVD

I downloaded ImgBurn this am. All was going great until I tried to create the image file by clicking on the read button. I was trying to copy a DVD+R that I had previously made in Adobe Premier from my video cam. The log was showing many "retry failures" from read errors and then finally quit. What could be the cause?

Here is my log:

Dear Lightning UK! A really helpful response!!!! I have no idea what you are tlaking about. I am brand new today to ImgBurn and thought I was posting on the forum; at least that's what the tab at the top of the page says. I would try not to PM you again if I knew what that meant or how it happened in the first place. Your type of response really makes me want to recommend ImgBurn to may others; that and the way it didn't really work to begin with.

Just so we're clear, ImgBurn isn't the problem here.

What you've got there is a disc that your drive - which is ancient btw - can't read.

As for why it can't read it... well your guess is as good as mine.

Is the disc dirty / scratched? Maybe it wasn't a good burn in the first place (low quality due to a bad writer or less than optimal write speed). Your old NEC burner will have seen better days - cleaning it with a cleaning disc may help though.

As mmalves said, try reading the disc in your other drive or another computer - if you have access to one.

To Lightnin UK - Sorry I misread your first post!! Thanks for your second response. Just for information the disc I was trying to copy runs just fine on my Sony DVD player, and also plays on my computer just fine when read with my NEC drive. Also, I have just recently burned several discs on my NEC burner from work I did in Adobe Premier Elements and they play back just fine on both my computer (through the NEC drive) and on my Sony DVD player, so it is hard to understand how the NEC burner is the problem. I will however take your advice and clean the burner with a cleaning disc, and will also try reading the disc on my other drive. Thanks for your help!
