Madness Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 (edited) Was trying to burn a DVD film from an ISO (a backup from DVDFab). It gets through the burning & then seems to have trouble finalizing the disk. Subsequently, it will not play in any DVD deck. This error is taken from the log: Potential 'WaitImmediateIO' Deferred Error - (99%, 0/3) - Program Memory Area Update Failure Finalise Disc Failed! - Reason: Program Memory Area Update Failure The media used was Verbatim MCC-0400-00 +R burned @ 8x; drive is a Lite-On iHAS220 & OS: Windows 7HP x64. Ideas? Edited September 29, 2012 by Madness
Cynthia Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 Can you post the full log from that failed burn? http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=14632
Madness Posted September 29, 2012 Author Posted September 29, 2012 I included the selection from the log for this & a second failed finalize burn (different movie). burnfail.txt
LIGHTNING UK! Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 Try again after updating the firmware to the latest version. http://www.firmwarehq.com/Lite-On/iHAS220%2B6/files.html Otherwise you'd have to start trying discs from another spindle, cleaning the drive with a cleaning disc and finally just accepting the drive has died.
Madness Posted September 30, 2012 Author Posted September 30, 2012 I don't think that the drive is dead; I recently burned five more perfect SL disks (from the same spindle). The drive came w/ 8L06 firmware, but I tried updating to 8L08 about 6 months ago. I found that it seemed to induce errors when burning dual-layer. Made two burns, two different movies & there were sector errors, in the exact same locations, on both. Downgraded back to 8L06 & reburned those same two films; they were perfect.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 Ok well just stick with it then and accept a few coasters.
