I always use verbatim 50 GB discs.

It supprorts 4x write speed on my LG GGW H20L

Since a few weeks it only burns 1x even the log says sucessfully set to 4x.

Normally i use AWS but its the same with max or 4x as settings.

Any suggestions ?

Please post a log - as per the pink box up the top :chair:

If they're BD-RE DL, you've probably got hardware defect management enabled or something (by formatting them with spare areas enabled).

AWS doesn't mean anything (except 'MAX') unless you actually configure the AWS feature (look at the Guides forum).

How are the buffer levels during the 1x burn? Post the IBG file if possible please.

If they're full, this must be something your drive is doing internally. You can't make that drive burn at 1x (only 2x and 4x) so it's not a problem with setting the speed.

Do you have any single layer discs you can test with? Perhaps see if the problem is limited to the double layer ones?

Buffer level is always full.

I use a empty 2 TB drive 7500 RPM.

I have a 4x Ritek 25 GB handy but its limited by my drive to 2x speed.

Please just confirm that BOTH of the buffers are full? As in the program buffer *and* the device buffer. Seeing the IBG (see below) would really help.

C:\Users\Mike-FX\AppData\Roaming\ImgBurn\Graph Data Files\HL-DT-ST_BD-RE_GGW-H20L_YL07_MONTAG-15-OKTOBER-2012_18-59_VERBAT-IMd-000_4x.ibg

2x is ok isn't it? You're just trying to get it to burn faster than 1x (which shouldn't even be possible with the drive/firmware/media combo).

Nothing new to me.

I would like to understand why.

If i want to burn 1x speed it adjuts to 2x at least. >:p

Posted

That's the point I made earlier... you can't tell the drive to burn at 1x on those discs, it simply doesn't support it.

Sure, you can *ask* it to, but it'll just ignore you and go with the slowest speed it does actually support.

The supported write speeds for the drive/firmware/media combo are listed in the disc info text on the right when you're in Write mode.

So not physically being able to tell the drive to burn at 1x makes the issue you're having (where it's burning at 1x) seem like an internal drive problem.

I tried a media range DL disc and it burned 2x speed.

Maybe a bad charge of discs (Verbatim) ?
