alsemail Posted September 4, 2006 Share Posted September 4, 2006 Hi all When I am backing up Dvd's I have always ripped to file and then burned using Dvd Decrypter or with Nero. I pretty much always get a good burn. However as more people are using and recomending ImgBurn I thought I should give it a try. I took a previously backed up Dvd (to save mucking about with compresssion) and ripped to iso. then burned to a +RW disc using ImgBurn. Great, no problem. So then I try it with one of my -R discs and it fails, and again, and again. Yet when I use the same discs and do it the way I mentioned previously it's consistently good. I have used the same discs for ages with no problems with my burner.....just when using ImgBurn Does anyone know if ImgBurn is media sensitive or have any other suggestions...... Thanks Al P.s. You might do well to find out the real model of that OEM LiteOn and use its firmware instead. OEM's tend not to do updates. I've never seen GSC media before but it certainly wouldn't hurt for you to try some decent 'known' (+ tried & tested) brands such as Verbatim MCC and Taiyo Yuden. Not really, dye quality, manufacturing processes and a world of other issues make questionable media a definite no-no. The odds are that if you keep the discs you made for a year they may be totally unreadable due to dye degredation and whatever else the dvd gods have in store to plague us mere mortals.... But not so surprised they're sending me 2x50 spindles of Verbatims without asking me for more info or to return the unused discs. They were at it and got caught with their pants down. Can anyone reccomend a good UK internet suplier of quality media as I won't be using them anymore. Updated my firmware, fantastic, now rips at record speed. Pinched a Verbatim off a friend and got a perfect burn (although I did also with a GENUINE RitekG05). Many thanks again for all your halp and assistance. P.s I might be teaching you all to suck eggs but if any of you use DVDShrink and are experiencing a slowdown a firmware update on your Dvd seems to fix it, my encoding times have dropped by about 2/3 since I did it.
