seamless option still results in pause... what am I doing wrong?

Hello,

Long time lurker first time poster.

So I copied a DVD with DVDFab leaving the remove layer break option enabled. I confirmed there isn't a layer break with IFOEdit... the layer break was gone. I burned the image first not checking seemless, the burn was a success. I then burned the same dvd with the seemless option ticked and I still see the pause! I'm using verbatim dvd+dl disks, my player is an LG BD590. I know sometimes Seemless might not work, but would this be the behavior? Any thoughts?

Here is the relevant part of the log:

The layer break is a physical thing, so unless your player actually reads ahead and buffers enough data such that the loss of streaming as the laser refocuses on the 2nd layer isn't a problem, you'll always notice a short pause.

Try seamless with a few different dvds just to make sure it's not a localised problem on that specific one.

Your version of ImgBurn is out of date btw.

Busted! :D I'll have to upgrade it asap.

I haven't seen pauses on this player before... maybe another user that happens to have this model might read this and chime in. With the layer break option I only get one (well two, at the same spot) with an average rating... can this unwanted pause occur on a badly placed spot with a seamless break? I have never looked into layer breaks with ImgBurn before, so I'll have to read up on the features... but if this could be a problem, and if it's possible, I can try to move the layer break elsewhere. Any advice you might have, I'd be happy to listen to!

Speaking of advice, thanks so much for all the time and effort you have put into this project. The level of work, personal dedication, and enthusiasm you continue to put in is amazing. You always seem to reply in kind (and frequent fashion), without a hint of, "Oh god. Not that question again." As a software engineer... I know that can be tough! You probably yourself don't get enough support and I will happily give you another tithe this year for the cause!

If you're getting 2 at the same spot (same LBA address yeah?), that probably means you've got 2 PGC's that are using the same data. Make sure both are marked as seamless (SPLIP = Yes) before you then try to pick one of them and make your seamless layer break.

Make sure you use the preview feature to examine exactly what's going on in the video at that point - more on that can be found in the DVD Video guide.
