Second off, an explanation:

The first burn in the log was a Verbatim DVD+R SL disc.  Everything is peachy here. The disc burns, verifies, and works in my playstation.  However, I only had one of these discs and was doing a bit of trial and error troubleshooting.

The second burn uses a Taiyo Yuden DVD-R SL disc (which I have about 60 of).  The disc is burned as normal, but at the verify stage, I received the error "Incompatible Medium Installed". I aborted the verify at this point.  The disc does not work in the playstation, nor is it read by my computer drive.

The third burn uses a Taiyo Yuden DVD-R SL disc again.  The disc is burned without error, but this time I deselected the verify button hoping to avoid the previous error.  I did not get any errors, and the disc completed successfully.  However, the disc does not playback in the playstation and it is not recognized by my PC.

So, here we are.  I'm wondering if even though the disc was burned successfully, it still is considered "Incompatible Media", leaving me high and dry.  I'm only out 20 bucks for this drive, so if anyone knows of a good drive to match with the TYGO2 discs, shoot er at me.  This is a plan B of course, in the hopes that I can work the kinks out of my current problem.

Thanks in advance,
Adam

Oh, also worth mentioning:

The pioneer drive is the inherent drive on my laptop, and it died a long time ago.

The ASUS drive is in an external enclosure attached via USB.

Real tyg02 discs should work fine in just about any drive, they're normally excellent discs. Try burning them at 8x.

As you've discovered, turning verify off doesn't make a problem go away. If you're about to get hit by a speeding train, closing your eyes won't make it go away, you just won't see it hit you. Sure, maybe some things are better left unknown but the readability and accuracy of a burn isn't 1 of them. Leave Verify enabled. :)
