The first time I burned this DVD i got this error: I restarted my computer and decided to try 1 more time. It finished and said it was completed. However it failed to build the DVD. Try burning at 8x instead of 4x, the drive may do a better job at that speed. If you continue to get bad burns, consider buying some better discs. Log 2: It burnt and verified ok... so what's the actual problem with that one? Hi, it seems my computer might have had a strange error. It wouldn't play disc 2, I ejected and inserted the disc again and it's now playing. It also works on my blu ray, weird. In regards to the Log 1, I've been burning all my discs at 4x, all the same brand and never got this error. Could it be a 1 time glitch with imgburn? LIGHTNING UK! Posted February 3, 2013 Share Posted February 3, 2013 Nope, it's nothing to do with ImgBurn. Your drive/firmware/media combo messed up. When it comes to burning, there's outright success / failure and an unlimited number of 'quality' levels. So whilst 4x might have given you mostly successful burns on those cheapo 'CMC MAG-M01-00' discs (the brand name stamped on them doesn't matter), the quality of said burns (how readable the disc is) could be really bad/low. When the quality drops too low (too many low level errors on the disc that the drive can't correct), you'll get proper read errors during the verify phase... which is what you got in Log 1. Posted February 3, 2013 Share Posted February 3, 2013 Verbatim - They should be 'MCC 03RG20' for 16x DVD-R and 'MCC-004-00' for 16x DVD+R Taiyo Yuden (Victor JVC) - They should be 'TYG02' for 8x DVD-R, 'TYG03' for 16x DVD-R, 'YUDEN000-T02-00' for 8x DVD+R and 'YUDEN000-T03-00' for 16x DVD+R. Nope, the picture quality doesn't change. An 'easy to read' disc will mean you're less likely to suffer from stuttering / corrupt frames etc as the drive (fails) to read the disc.
