bobwhat Posted April 18, 2013 Share Posted April 18, 2013 I have been having a problem with imgburn either burning at too high of a speed or reporting too high of speed. The funny thing is graph data is inconsistent with what imgburn is telling me (both write and verify graph data). I don't think 35.5x is even possible for dvd read speed (correct me if i am wrong ) Using this drive and other drives I have no problems with the burned discs, also quality tests and transfer rate tests are ok I have tried restoring defualt settings, tried resetting dma, tried setting the Automatic write speed to 12x for the media i was using, tried just using the 12x speed from the drop down menu. The problem persist in the newest version of the program too. I have also tried diffrent chipset/storage drivers. Cycling the tray before verify makes no diffrence with the verifying speed imgburn reports. It still done the same way Burning a test disc in optodrive control at 12x did ok (it reported the correct speed) I have looked on this forum and other forums for answers but did not find any. LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 18, 2013 Share Posted April 18, 2013 It's not a problem, just a little cosmetic issue. There's probably a slight delay somewhere which registers as a really slow speed, before things then catch up and register as a really high speed. Just ignore it. Go back to 2.5.7.0 though. bobwhat Posted April 18, 2013 Author Share Posted April 18, 2013 After some investigation with a stopwatch i found I have a competely diffrent problem. I compared data on a dvd with data on the harddrive with cdcheck, It reported finishing in 2:45 but it really took 4:54, the cpu had a load of 15-20 percent during that time and I noticed the time on my computer intermittently pausing and resuming during that time. I than used the verify function in imgburn It reported reading back the disc in 4:50 There was about a 5 percent cpu load during this time. bobwhat Posted April 20, 2013 Author Share Posted April 20, 2013 I am posting this so maybe it will help someone in the future, Thank you Lightning UK for pointing out a delay was causing it, that put me on the right path to find the problem.After chasing down one false fix after another I finally figured out my problem. So Windows was losing time (not the bios) because a reboot or just putting the computer in standby than waking it would restore the correct time. This seemed to happen when burning and verifying dvds but cpu usage was not causing the problem (Did not lose time when using handbrake to encode a video). Anyway the problem was happening when a usb wireless adapter was plugged in even though the wireless connection was disabled when i was not using it.
