ljr Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Hi, I've got an old LG blue-ray writer, which is max 2x. I've (probably wrongly) bought 6x discs (Verbatim) Would that cause the following error? If it's the likely cause, I'll race out in the morning for more discs - could anyone confirm? I've never used the drive before for blue-ray, so I'm not sure if something else might cause this error. ************************************************** HL-DT-ST BD-RE BH08LS20 1.00 (SATA) Current Profile: BD-R Disc Information: Status: Incomplete State of Last Session: Empty Erasable: No Free Sectors: 7,162,592 Free Space: 14,668,988,416 bytes Free Time: 1591:43:17 (MM:SS:FF) Next Writable Address: 5056800 MID: VERBAT-IMu-000 Supported Write Speeds: 2x Disc Definition Structure: Certified: No Scanned: No Manufacturers Name: HL-DT-ST Additional ID: BD-RE BH08LS20 Serial Number: H5395ME1139 BD Disc Information: Disc ID: VERBAT-IMu-000 Disc Type: BD-R Disc Size: 120mm Disc Class: 0 Disc Version: 1 Number of Layers: 1 Layer Type: Writable DVD Layer Present: No CD Layer Present: No Channel Bit Length: 74.50nm (25GB Per Layer) Push-Pull Polarity: Negative Recorded Mark Polarity: LTH BCA Present: Yes Maximum Transfer Rate: Not Specified First PAA of Data Zone: 131,072 Last PAA of Data Zone: 1,658,494 Format Capacities: DT: 0x03 - NB: 12219392 (0x00BA7400) - TDP: 2048 Performance (Write Speed): Descriptor 1... -> B0: 0x02, B1: 0x00, B2: 0x00, B3: 0x00 -> EL: 0 (0x00000000) -> RS: 7,440 KB/s (1.7x) - WS: 8,991 KB/s (2x) ********************************** W 21:59:14 Failed to Write Sectors 0 - 31 - Reason: Power Calibration Area Error W 21:59:14 Retrying (1 of 20)... spinningwheel Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 You could check to see if there is an update to the firmware for the drive, otherwise go out and buy the correct speed discs since your burn is failing right from the start.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Try and avoid the cheaper 'LTH' ones too if possible.
ljr Posted May 8, 2013 Author Posted May 8, 2013 Ok, what's the wording on the pack I' m looking for? (These say Verbatim 6x BD-R LTH Type) Thanks, Linda
