Number Cruncher Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 In previous versions of ImgBurn, "File I/O" on the I/O tab had the "Ignore Reported File System On Remote Drives" unchecked and "Reading - Always Use Buffered I/O" unchecked. In 2.5.8.0, "Ignore Reported File System On Remote Drives" is still unchecked, but now, "Reading - Always Use Buffered I/O" is checked by default, and a new option, "Writing - Always Use Buffered I/O" is checked by default. A "Transfer Size" option is defaulted to 64 KiB. Just wondering the rationale for the change. Since ImgBurn has always worked fine for me, I feel like I should uncheck these two options to configure the application as it has always been in the past... unless something in the application changed that now requires these options to be checked? I checked the settings guide, which has not yet been updated to reflect this new change.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 When the OS is allowed to cache the read/writes, it can speed up the maximum transfer rates - so less buffering issues etc. It's really up to you how you want to configure it.
