Hello,

I was trying to burn a BR 25GB.

I did this before and always everything worked fine.

First I tried it bruning an image file.

But I got the Erro message: Finalise Disc Failed! - Reason: Cannot Write Medium - Incompatible

Then I used DVD Fab to create regular BR movie folders and tried again burning them with img burn.

Again, I got the same error message.

I don't know what this would mean, as the drive worked always fine, also I used the same media, means the same Blu-ray of the same package,

already burnt a lot with no errors.

Trying to find help in this forum I didn't find a useful answer.

When trying to finalise the disk manually, via the close disk options I get an I/O error message.

So does someone know what the problem could be?

Since last burning I didn't change anything in my system except updating Quick Time. Could this be a catalyst producing errors?

Update:I treid again burning the original image file but this time with Ashampoo Burning Studio 2010.

And it worked, no error messages!

So it seems not to be a hardware problem, isn't it?

Any clue, what this could be?

Try the other supported write speeds. Maybe 2x isn't up to the job.

The error at the start of the burn shouldn't be ignored.

There are newer versions of ImgBurn available too.

Thanks for your quick answer.

But what do you mean with "the error at the start"? Cant see no error when starting.

The write speed 2x is what I did the whole time. I burnt many BR with this and it always worked.

As I wrote, I didn't change a thing.

I am using the same img burn version, the same write speed, the same media type even of the same package,

and suddenly there is this error.

This is the error at the start...

I 20:51:08 Writing LeadIn...

W 20:51:17 Failed to Write Sectors 0 - 31 - Reason: Program Memory Area Update

Of all the things you've mentioned (drive, media, software), hopefully you understand that the software (ImgBurn) is the one thing that doesn't change. It doesn't wear out with age / usage or get dusty / dirty to the point where its performance is compromised.

It'll send exactly the same commands to the drive on its 1,000,000th usage that it did on its 1st.
