JollyRoger Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 Every time I insert a blank DVD, I get the same message: "device not ready (medium not present - tray closed)" I've tried Memorex and Sony DVD-R's and DVD-RW's. What am I missing here?
blutach Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 Sounds like the drive doesn't like the media. Get some decent stuff like Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden and update your firmware - see link in my signature. Regards

I 09:29:15 Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition (5.1, Build 2600 : Service Pack 2) I 09:29:16 Initialising SPTI... I 09:29:16 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices... I 09:29:16 Found 1 DVD-ROM/CD-RW! I have some recorded movies on the same Sony DVD-R's that play fine in the drive. So maybe it is the firmware? I'm also gonna grab some Verbatims and Taiyos and see if that helps. I have no experience updating firmware so I need to do some research on that first...
