Hey guys, having a problem on a laptop that just started for unknown reasons.  Have been using Imgburn to burn .iso to DVD for a few years w/out a hitch and I'm not sure about this one now.

Using Verbatim DVD+R media that has been basically flawless for years.  The DVD burner is already up to date on firmware (as far as I was able to find).  The program has also been freshly reinstalled.  The resulting burnt disc is able to play the movies while on the laptop, but 3 stand alone players will not recognize it as a DVD.

Here is the log, titles replaced with XXX.

Never had a problem for maybe 2 years until this week.  Any suggestions?

Try cleaning the drive.

You're losing the actual error returned by the drive though - probably due to the controller the drive is attached to and the drivers installed for it.

"The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error." is a Windows error you see, not a drive one.

I'll give that a try, since it's a laptop drive and I don't have a 'cleaning disc' like they sell at the store, any tips on how to clean it?

The drivers are just the windows ones or the ones shipped with acer, but they are up to date.  No way to get at what the actual error is I suppose?
