I/O device error

I've been using ImgBurn for over a year now. I've been using Ideal DVD Copy to back up my movies for over a year now. And I have purchased a 100 disc package of DVD R- discs that I've used down to about 10 left. Everything has worked fine until today. I was backing up a disc today. Ideal DVD copied it just fine and opened ImgBurn to burn it. However, part way through I got an I/O device error. So I checked the disc, threw it away since it was no longer blank, pulled out a new one and tried it again. Then I tried it by going directly from the hard drive instead of the disc. I've now gone through 4 discs with the exact same error. I don't know what's wrong or how to fix it and check if it's fixed without going through more discs! Please - can someone help me?

The problem is with reading from your source drive. You should run chkdsk on that drive and scan for surface errors.

OK, thanks. Not what I'd hoped to hear, but I'm not too surprised. I've been having trouble with my hard drive and was told I may need to replace it sometime soon. Looks like it's time. Thanks!!
