Technoid Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 I used DVD Flick v2, which I think makes the files and then uses Imgburn to burn it to a DVD.I always get a write error: I 16:33:26 ImgBurn Version 2.4.4.0 started!I 16:33:26 Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition (5.1, Build 2600 : Service Pack 3)I 16:33:26 Total Physical Memory: 1,046,604 KB - Available: 375,716 KBI 16:33:26 Initialising SPTI...I 16:33:26 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices...I 16:33:27 Found 1 DVD±RW!I 16:33:27 Operation Started!I 16:33:27 Device: [0:0:0] PHILIPS DVD+-RW DVD8701 5D24 (D:) (ATA)I 16:33:27 Media Type: DVD+RW (Disc ID: INFODISC-A10-01) (Speeds: 2.4x)I 16:33:27 Quick Erase: NoI 16:33:27 Format Properly: YesI 16:33:27 Format Size: PreferredI 16:33:27 Erasing Disc...W 16:33:52 Potential 'WaitImmediateIO' Deferred Error - (0/5) - Write ErrorE 16:33:56 Failed to Erase Disc! - Reason: Write ErrorI 16:33:56 Operation Successfully Completed! - Duration: 00:00:29I 16:33:58 Operation Started!I 16:33:58 Building Image Tree...I 16:33:58 Checking Directory Depth...I 16:33:58 Calculating Totals...I 16:33:58 Preparing Image...I 16:33:58 Checking Path Length...I 16:33:58 Contents: 7 Files, 2 FoldersI 16:33:58 Content Type: DVD VideoI 16:33:58 File System(s): ISO9660, UDF (1.02)I 16:33:58 Volume Label: DVD VideoI 16:33:58 IFO/BUP 32K Padding: EnabledI 16:33:58 Region Code: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8I 16:33:58 TV System: NTSCI 16:33:58 Size: 315,017,216 bytesI 16:33:58 Sectors: 153,817I 16:33:58 Image Size: 315,588,608 bytesI 16:33:58 Image Sectors: 154,096I 16:33:58 Operation Successfully Completed! - Duration: 00:00:00I 16:33:58 Operation Started!I 16:33:58 Source File: -==/\/[bUILD IMAGE]\/\==-I 16:33:58 Source File Sectors: 154,096 (MODE1/2048)I 16:33:58 Source File Size: 315,588,608 bytesI 16:33:58 Source File Volume Identifier: DVD VideoI 16:33:58 Source File Application Identifier: IMGBURN V2.4.4.0 - THE ULTIMATE IMAGE BURNER!I 16:33:58 Source File Implementation Identifier: ImgBurnI 16:33:58 Source File File System(s): ISO9660, UDF (1.02)I 16:33:58 Destination Device: [0:0:0] PHILIPS DVD+-RW DVD8701 5D24 (D:) (ATA)I 16:33:58 Destination Media Type: DVD+RW (Disc ID: INFODISC-A10-01) (Speeds: 2.4x)I 16:33:58 Destination Media Sectors: 2,295,104I 16:33:58 Write Mode: DVDI 16:33:58 Write Type: DAOI 16:33:58 Write Speed: 1xI 16:33:58 Link Size: AutoI 16:33:58 Lock Volume: YesI 16:33:58 Test Mode: NoI 16:33:58 OPC: NoI 16:33:58 BURN-Proof: EnabledI 16:33:58 Filling Buffer... If I let it retry all 20 times it does the same thing. I thought it might be the write speed, I tried 4x, 2x, 2.4x, 1x, 56x (or whatever the highest one is), and "MAX", it always did the same thing. I'm not sure if I actually got it to write at those speeds or if I just thought I set it to. I just updated it, and now it just stops at erasing it. I believe I used the normal Windows thing to put files onto a CD a long time ago, I just dragged and dropped it like as if it was a USB flash drive, and it worked. I am using the same drive now.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 Get some good quality write once discs. Rewritables are less reliable and yours aren't even good ones of those.
