timmyleeturner Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Not sure when it actually started, possibly the last time I updated to the latest ImgBurn release, but when I insert a blank media disc into my Windows 8 DVD player, ImgBurn no longer opens. I've gone in and made sure Auto Play was on in Windows and that ImgBurn was the default burner. What else can I try? Thanks

LIGHTNING UK! Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 You can use the options in ImgBurn's settings on the 'Device' tab to ensure the OS autoinsert notification bits are still enabled. After that, it should really just be a case of configuring the 'AutoPlay' stuff in Control Panel. If you 'Reset All Defaults' in there and the AutoPlay box still doesn't pop up when you insert a disc, you've got something installed on your machine that's blocking it from working correctly. ImgBurn cannot do that. Your issue is OS related and not anything to do with ImgBurn.
ianymaty Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Tools > Settings > Device > Cancel AutoPlay
LIGHTNING UK! Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 That's only when ImgBurn is open though ianymaty. The OP wants ImgBurn to open so I'm assuming it's not open in the first place.
timmyleeturner Posted November 13, 2014 Author Posted November 13, 2014 I worked on it for several days... tried resetting everything back to defaults, explored all the advice for fixing it in Windows... still won't run auto play for this program. Auto plays everything else. It really bugs me since I was used to it, but too busy to devote my life to it.

Not sure why it worked so good before, I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and the stupid Windows 8 prompt came on and ask if I'd like to choose what to do when a blank DVD is inserted, but when you click on that to select, it only offers Real Player or Windows Explorer, no ImgBurn
LIGHTNING UK! Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 Oh so autoplay itself is still working just fine. If you aren't seeing ImgBurn on the autoplay list, it might be because it can't add itself as an option. Right click your ImgBurn shortcut and run it as administrator. Then just close it down and try autoplay again.
timmyleeturner Posted November 13, 2014 Author Posted November 13, 2014 Awesome, thanks! Some traditions CAN be salvaged.
