Hi everybody,

first, thx for this really nice program. Know I don't need Ne*o anymore. :)

I have a problem with the reported max. write speeds:

The packaging of my DVD+Rs says "8x (max.)".

ImgBurn reports:

HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4167B DL13 (ATA)

I wouldn't have noticed first if it wouldn't have risen to about 16x while burning.

The DVDs seem to work fine btw but I wonder why there's such a difference.

Maybe someone can enlighten me. ;)

Regards,

Marcel

It's all about what your drive and firmware can support with that type of media, in your case, you're talking about 'rolls royce' media, it is not uncomon for this type of media to support much higher speeds.

Again it's all down to media/drive/firmware.

this can also happen the other way around, where the media is rated at say 16X, but the drive / firmware will only burn it at say 8X.

Just as a side note, if the media is rated at 8X max, I would recomend you do not exeed this speed, even if your drive/firmware supports it at a speed higher than that.

Haven't tried that media yet, but I have experienced some discs showing a slightly higher speed than what is on the packaging. I have the exact same drive and firmware, so its probably the disc and firmware that is telling you it can burn much faster.
