zibon Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 I am new to ImgBurn and these forums so Hello! I installed ImgBurn to burn Dual Layer dvds with a new burner I just got. Burning DL dvds is new to me and ImgBurn seemed like the best reviewed software to do this. I have successfully burnt some dvds using ISO's I downloaded. But I have tried a few times to burn 2 folders (VIDEO-TS & AUDIO_TS) without success. These were taken from a DVD-A. I can't seem to find a definitive answer as to whether or not burning a DVD-A is supported with ImgBurn. So if it is not, just verify that and I'll move on. If it is, below I have included the log when I attempt to burn this in hopes that someone can help me out. I am using an LG GSA-H30L with Verbatim AZO DVD+R DL media. LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 This isn't related to what you're putting on the disc, the disc is just unreadable. What speed did you burn it at? Regardless, your drive did a bad job of burning the disc.
zibon Posted January 26, 2016 Author Posted January 26, 2016 Thanks for the reply! So should I try a 1x burn? I've been burning ISO's with no issues. Strange, It's only when I get to this DVD-A content that I get problems. So DVD-A is not a problem for ImgBurn?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 I very much doubt 1x is an option for your drive/firmware/media combo. Are you verifying your burns when you burn the ISO files? You aren't going to have run into this issue unless you are - the burning phase itself is completing without error. DVD-A should be fine. Your drive doesn't know or care what's on the disc. Data is data.
zibon Posted January 27, 2016 Author Posted January 27, 2016 I do have verify selected, but I am not burning an ISO, just burning the folders in build mode. This is my second attempt. The first time I did make an ISO from the video and audio folders and then attempted to burn the ISO and got a similar error. As far as the DVD-A issue, I only asked because everything I have read so far has said that you have to have specialized DVD-A software to make a true DVD-A disc. But I agree with what you are saying, that data is data and it shouldn't be an issue. It just seems like everything I read on DVD-A authoring makes it sound like a dead format that takes specific software to make a true DVD-A disc. Anyway, if it means anything, everything else I have burnt with this new burner has been successful (about 3 DL discs so far). They have all been from ISO's. Also, I put the unsuccessfully burnt dvd in my player and it was almost completely functional! So is there anything else I can do to maybe get this to burn correctly? Would the layer break matter? That is a new thing for me, and I just used the suggested break point after previewing it. Thanks again for your help!
LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 It's ok, I just mentioned ISO files because your initial post said you'd burnt those ok. Had to make sure we're comparing apples with apples There's no reason your drive would have worked for those but not for what you're burning now - assuming the same discs were used etc. Although you haven't provided the burn log, it looks like you burnt the disc at max speed (8x). Try burning at 4x instead.
zibon Posted January 30, 2016 Author Posted January 30, 2016 Burning at 4x was successful! Thanks so much for your replies in helping me with this! Everything I've burned since then I've done at 4x with 100% success! Thanks!
