jv27 Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 I'm trying to burn a 60 minute audio CD using an LG burner and a TDK CD-R (80 minute capacity). When I load the CD-R, the drive status in the upper right half of the IMGBurn window states the CD-R (which is new) only has 55 minutes of free space. This is what the window shows: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GH24NSB0 LN00 (SATA) Current Profile: CD-R Disc Information: Status: Empty State of Last Session: Empty Erasable: No Free Sectors: 250,320 Free Space: 512,655,360 bytes Free Time: 55:39:45 (MM:SS:FF) Next Writable Address: 0 MID: 97m26s66f (CMC Magnetics Corp.) Supported Write Speeds: 16x, 32x, 40x, 48x ATIP Information: Disc ID: 97m26s66f Manufacturer: CMC Magnetics Corp. Start Time of LeadIn: 97m26s66f Any ideas why ImgBurn only sees 55 minutes of free time on the new (unwritten) disk? I checked the properties of the disk in Windows Explorer and it shows 700MB of free space.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 That's what your drive is reporting and that's all it can go by. Was there nothing else in that window? Were you in Write mode? Find some different CDRs and see if the drive reports the correct size for those.
ianymaty Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 Flash the latest firmware, it may fix it. http://www.firmwarehq.com/download_2136-file_GH24NSB0(ew).zip.html
jv27 Posted January 29, 2016 Author Posted January 29, 2016 Thanks ianymaty. That fixed the problem. I had used the Windows control panel to check for a firmware update and it reported that I had the latest software. I obviously did not.
