How to Force Write Speed

Forgive a nube to the forum, I have tried a search but found no ready answer. I have an LG burner (GH24NSC0) that I know supports burning Dual-Layers at 2.4x / 4x / 8x write speeds. ImgBurn will only offer up 4x or 8x as write speeds supported by the drive. Is there any way to force the program to burn at 2.4x, or is the Verbatim media causing this write speed selection somehow?

Thanks in advance. :shakehands:

ImgBurn lists the supported speeds in the box on the right.

They're the speeds your drive reports it can write at on the media you've inserted and I'm afraid there's no way to override them.

ImgBurn always 'asks' the drive to burn at whatever speed you've selected, it's down to the drive to use that speed or pick the closest one from whatever it actually supports.

Ok. Thanks for that. I thought that might be the case. The manufacturer specs must be incorrect. I guess I'll just have to buy the more pricey Verbatim media, as these ones don't like even a 4x burn .... 50% coasters, but fine at 2.4x.

For the record (and other members) these are Verbatim 8x DVD+R DL "Life Series" with printable hub.
