paulojfonseca Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 Hello all, I have been investigating an error in an Automotive Navigation System. The system does Map updates using CD. The same ISO image burned by ImgBurn (same version) in 2 different drives but same CD type gives different results. On Drive 1 i can burn the CD and successfully update the Map. On Drive 2 i can burn the CD but the Map update finishes with Error: "CD Incomplete or Damaged" Both CD-R copies have the same filesystem: ISO + Joliet Both CD-R copies have the same file structure and file sizes I made a bit to bit comparison of the HEX content of the 2 CDs and they are the same. Both CD-R read test show good quality (Nero CD Speed) The only difference I could find between them is in ImgBurn read test The LTS value of track 01 is different in the 2 CDs Drive#1 (OK) TOC Information: Session 1... (LBA: 0 / 00:02:00) -> Track 01 (Mode 1, LBA: 0 / 00:02:00) -> LeadOut (LBA: 339112 / 75:23:37) Track Information: Session 1... -> Track 01 (LTSA: 0, LTS: 339112, LRA: 0) Questions: 1- What is the meaning of LTSA, LTS and LRA? where can i find information on what do they really mean? 2- Is there anyway to tweak the LTS value of track 1? I would like to make it smaller on Disc 2 to check if indeed this is the root cause for the failure of the map update. 3-Is there any other test you guys think i can do to find differences between the 2 discs? LIGHTNING UK! Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 LTSA is Logical Track Start Address LTS is Logical Track Size LRA is Last Recorded Address To me, it's the 2nd disc that looks correct. I'd expect LTS to match the LeadOut on a single session/track disc. You are checking the discs in the same drive yeah? It could be that one just reports different LTS. You can't tweak those values. If there aren't read from the disc itself, they're generated by the drive based on something that IS recorded on it (i.e. the TOC) How big was the source ISO? Was it actually 339110 sectors and the drives have rounded up (TOC wise anyway) to 339112? In which case, that's probably why the first one works... its LTS is correct. Which drive made which burn please? It would help to have all the info. It's probably easier (and more helpful for other people) if you post the entire chunk of text from the disc info box for each disc.

paulojfonseca Posted July 18, 2016 Author Posted July 18, 2016 Just one additional info. I tried to reduced the burning speed on Drive#2 to match the one on Drive#1 = 24x This did not help. I get the same discrepancy in the LTS value and the same read error in the navigation system.
