Tobey Posted July 27, 2016 Share Posted July 27, 2016 Hello, I work with ImgBurn and the Windows program 7 USB / DVD download tool. When I select in ImgBurn "create image file from files / folders" everything works fine and I can add a bootable ISO on my stick. However, I have tried it on "Create Image file from disc" and the ISO created not getting on the stick via the download tool. I always get the message "the selected file is not a valid iso file" I have already read on the Internet that the settings are a bit more complicated with this option, but I have not found any matching settings in the Internet. Does somebody the settings or a reason why it does not work? P.S. Please no options as it works differently, because the problem has already been solved differently! LIGHTNING UK! Posted July 27, 2016 Share Posted July 27, 2016 So the image you get from Read mode ('Create image file from disc') isn't being accepted by Microsoft's tool? Can you please post the log from that read operation. Can you also please copy and paste all of the disc information from the box on the right when you're in Read mode with that disc in the drive. This issue is normally caused by the drive padding the end of the disc to a multiple of the ECC block size (16 sectors). Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

LIGHTNING UK! Posted July 27, 2016 Share Posted July 27, 2016 There's quite a difference there between the file system sectors and the disc / track sectors. For Microsoft's tool to work, I believe they need to be the same. You'll have to rebuild the ISO using Build mode as you have been doing and forget using Read mode on that disc. As you're just trying to make a bootable USB stick, it doesn't really matter how you create the image you feed into Microsoft's tool, it's going to rip it apart and just put the files on the stick anyway.
