I've used the same DVD+R before just 2-3 hours ago and it was fine. I've restared my comp still no good my media is Fujifilm DVD+R (plextools Proffesionla recognizes it as blank disk man. Id=PRODISK R05) Please help?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 Sorry to have to tell you this but you need to ditch the Prodisc junk media and get yourself some decent Verbatim (with the MCC dye) or Taiyo Yuden media.
kortik Posted October 28, 2006 Author Posted October 28, 2006 so its just the media and thats it. whey does my drive say CD drive when I put the blank dvd+r in it. but when I take it out it shows as DVD-RW drvie. its just strage. plus I bought a 100pack and used abotu 10 of them w/out anyprobelms I dont know if I can return it now. what should I do
lfcrule1972 Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 You need better media as the boss said. Sorry to hear you bought 100 of them but what you will see is maybe some ok burns but a lot of grief inbetween. If I were you I would contact the retailer and tell them that your drive refuses to recognise them and ask to return them. If the retailer sells Taiyo Yuden or MCC dye Verbatims get those instead.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 Windows always changes the drive name to CD Drive when you put a blank in. It's because it's empty and it doesn't understand blanks very well. So basically ignore explorer and just trust your burning programs to do their job. Even though you've burnt a few of them ok, they're probably really bad burns. There's a very fine line between not working and working very badly. You're hovering right over it.
kortik Posted October 28, 2006 Author Posted October 28, 2006 thank you I'll go to Best Buy cause thats where I got mine. its true some burns work and some dont its wierd. cause 1 minute ago I burned one DVD w/out any probelms damn those DVD+Rs You know I alwasy bought Fujifilm and alwasy looked where they were made most of the time it said Made in Japan . PlextoolPro alwasy told me Taiyo Yuden disk. So this time I bought it again Fuji film but forgot to see where they were made it was Taiwan. and they are PRODISK R05 appareantly. so how can I tell in the store which media is ToyoYuden or MCC? should I just go for Vertbaitm brand always? I bought DVD+R DL from Verbatim and burnes were flawless. there were made in Singapour.
kevdriver Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 kortik, Because of the up and down quality of most media, even the ones you may have had success with before, its best to stick with Verbatim or Taio Yuden. These two brands consistantly give good burns are arer of the highest quality dye formation.
kortik Posted October 28, 2006 Author Posted October 28, 2006 how can I tell if its Taoi Yuden Media. I can see Verbatim brand but never saw a Taoi Yuden brand media. last time I bought Taio Yuden disk were Fujifilm 100 pack DVD+R 4.7gb
LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 You'll find somewhere selling Taiyo Yuden discs where that's the brand name, or you buy some using the TYG02 / TYG03 / YUDEN000-T02-00 / YUDEN000-T03-00 dyes. i.e. Verbatim / Plextor / Panasonic. If you buy them online you should be able to see the media id codes on the website. Most decent sites list them.
kortik Posted October 29, 2006 Author Posted October 29, 2006 (edited) thanks you for your time everybody I just went to the store and returned the junk DVD+Rs got some Verbatim the ID on it says MCC-004-00 and it burns flawless no probelm already burned 10 DVD w/out any errors. thanks again Edited October 29, 2006 by kortik
kevdriver Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 Glad it worked out for you Kortik. Thanks for getting back.
kortik Posted October 29, 2006 Author Posted October 29, 2006 Yeah I love imageburn especially when burning DVD+R DL disk the best burning software ever thanks everybody
Flintkalle Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 Hi, sorry for lending the thread. But I have the same problem with my NEC 2500A 1.07 and my brand new Verbatim DVD-R disc's. I get this error: [1:0:0] _NEC DVD_RW ND-2500A 1.07 (J:) (ATA) CDB: 53 00 00 00 00 00 22 A2 81 00 CDB Interpretation: Reserve Track - Sectors: 2 269 825 SENSE: 70 00 02 00 00 00 00 0A 00 00 00 00 30 11 00 00 00 00 SENSE Interpretation: Cannot Format Medium - Unsupported Medium Write Speed Failed to Reserve Track! - Cannot Format Medium - Unsupported Medium Write Speed I've checked the media code for the discs on the webshop i ordered them from: media code: MCC03RG20/TYG03 I hope that someone can halp me with the problem.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 Update your firmware and perhaps stick to 8x media next time. http://www.de.nec.de/software/1858_Firmwar...500A_WIN10A.zip That's the 1.0A firmware, you're currently only on 1.07.
polopony Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 I've checked the media code for the discs on the webshop i ordered them from: media code: MCC03RG20/TYG03 these are actually 2 media codes the first Verbatim -R and the second TYG03 is Taiyo Yuden discs like LUK says your Firmware is really out of date , I have a 2500 and with the newest Firmware it definetly burns both of these discs
lfcrule1972 Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 Maybe the retailers sends out either or in those dyes ? I have seen retailers do this before.........
Flintkalle Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 Thanks Lightning UK. After I upgraded it, it worked

LIGHTNING UK! Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 They're actually 8x discs, not 16x ones (although the drive can burn at 16x). So if you've not already tried... do an 8x burn. Failing that, maybe your plextor is just faulty. My 716 died after a year and I just had it replaced by plextor. The new one came within a few days.
kortik Posted February 2, 2007 Author Posted February 2, 2007 (edited) Its impossible to blame it on my Plextor because after the burn using different speed the log is below I tried burning Verbatim MKM003 media DVD+R DL w/out a problem so its not my Plextor but something else. dontasciime Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 Your theory makes no sense unless the ty media you have is fake. Just because it burns to verbatim does not mean your plextor is not faulty, fair enough if you also burn thousands of disc's successfully with various dye, then the second you try and burn various batches of taiyo yuden you get a problem. Its like saying i tried ImgBurn to write to disc it failed but the 2nd i tried with nero it worked, as it would have not worked in nero and worked in ImgBurn if you had a time machine and reversed the order you tried. So maybe the tys you have are faulty or faked. Maybe your plextor is faulty. The plextor i had was faulty from day one woudl write 5 discs of the trot, t hen the next 5 would fail when trying to set book type on a dvd-r which is not possible but it still tried and destroyed multiple disc's. All you can do is update the firmware, make sure image is good, use decent media on a know clean install of XP or whichever operating system your using, then if it still fails like that accept it is faulty and return it as such.
kortik Posted February 2, 2007 Author Posted February 2, 2007 I dont belive that my Plextor is Faulty why would it burn on the other disk but not the TY media that I just bought It doenst make sense to me.
dontasciime Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 OK then its not faulty , try burning some other DVD +R media that is not dual layer, try also tyg02 or 3 -r media. If it works with other +R single media and DVD-r media then the YUDEN + media you have is either substandard or faked
spinningwheel Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 W 02:20:02 Failed to Write Sectors 32 - 63 - Invalid Field in CDB I get the same errors but w/the best media, which is recomended by Plextor I dont belive that my Plextor is Faulty It's your choice as to what you want to believe and not believe... Your disc's and drive have a compatibility problem...period. It matters not if Plextor recommended them or shipped them directly to your home from their warehouse...those particular discs don't work for you...get your money back from the supplier and buy more Verbs since they produce decent results on your machine.
