Tobim6 Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Hello guys im back with another question. This time I have a Verbatim DVD-RAM non-cartridge 4.7GB disk. I would like to format it to FAT32/exFAT. However in windows format window there is only UDF selectable. ImgBurn says this about the disk: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GH22NS50 TN03 (SATA) Current Profile: DVD-RAM Disc Information: Status: Others State of Last Session: Complete Erasable: Yes Sessions: 1 Sectors: 2 295 072 Size: 4 700 307 456 bytes Time: 510:02:72 (MM:SS:FF) MID: Matsushita Electric Industrial CO.,LTD. Im not sure. Thanks.
dbminter Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago I don't think it's possible to format any optical disc to FAT32/exFAT. I believe the limitation of the hardware format means you have to use ISO/UDF. FAT32/exFAT are generally partition type formats and there are no partitions on optical discs.
Tobim6 Posted 3 hours ago Author Posted 3 hours ago DVD-RAM is an exception. It is a sectored disk. Actually i just managed to format it as FAT32 with DVDForm. But still i dont know how to format it with other filesystem. Maybe it would be easier on linux because it should just appear as a block device.
dbminter Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Actually, that makes sense if I had though it through. DVD-RAM is designed to be dynamic.
