Neil Wilkes
When I look in the guides, I read that DVD-R DL is not recommended for DVD-V. Why? I have never had any trouble with them at all. Also, I see writeups of quality of burns to Verbatim DVD-%R DL 4x discs, with poor results. However further looking reveals they appear to have been burned at way faster than 4x. Again - Why? LIGHTNING UK!
The DVD-R DL specification does not allow for manual positioning of the layer break. Many drives overspeed media to speeds beyond the 'rated' ones. i.e. 6x or 8x on 4x media. 4x or 6x on 2.4x media etc. It's all down to the drives and their firmware.
