joedoro Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 Have been using ImgBurn without problems then all of a sudden it started doing this. After clicking on more details I get this: AppName: imgburn.exe AppVer: 2.1.0.0 ModName: unknown ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 10010ab0 Have done virus scans and have uninstalled and reinstalled ImgBurn to no avail. Have tried starting it with firewall off and virus and spyware off (I use the AOL virus and spyware products and WinXP firewall). I've been using Quick CD DVD burner in the meantime and it works without problems. Any thoughts? Thanks joeyD
Kenadjian Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 Did you download the EXE from the official site? If not, download it again. It does sound like a virus though.
Shamus_McFartfinger Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 I agree with Kenadjian. Sounds like a virus to me also. I suggest using a trusted online virus scanner like HouseCall, regardless of what other virus scanners you've used. Find it here: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
joedoro Posted December 27, 2006 Author Posted December 27, 2006 Scanned per above and found one malware and removed it and uninstalled and reinstalled ImgBurn with same result
polopony Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 Scanned per above and found one malware and removed it and uninstalled and reinstalled ImgBurn with same result I'd try with more than 1 virus checker they're only as good as their virus definitions and sometimes things get by.Did you reboot the computer after you removed the malware? also to remove certain stuff you have to remove it from the registry ,there are nasties that start up again after a restart . BTW you do have an anti virus program installed dont you .If you get online its a must ,I use Norton AV works great although not everyone likes it
LIGHTNING UK! Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 You might need to start up a debugger - i.e. Microsoft's WinDbg and then load ImgBurn from within that. It should capture where the error is coming from.

LIGHTNING UK! Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 Ok, it turns out that all the PECompact compressed ImgBurn.exe files will error out with that same access violation. UPX compressed ImgBurn.exe's do not suffer the same fate but then they won't run on Windows 98! So really, that only leaves me with 1 option.... to stop compressing the exe until either of the problems are fixed.
CHUAJARA Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 HAVING SAME PROBLEM. WAS WORKING FINE , NOW WILL NOT START.
polopony Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 #1 first stop posting in capitals its the same as screaming #2 read the rest of the posts and see if it helps #3 post something specific error messages ,supply screenshots ,any info at all simply saying it doesn't work helps no one ,your problem may not be identical to the other members problem #4 run a virus scan
Rick H Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 I had a similar problem with ImgBurn errors on loading. When AOL anti-virus was removed, ImgBurn ran successfully.
Dave B Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 Ok, it turns out that all the PECompact compressed ImgBurn.exe files will error out with that same access violation. UPX compressed ImgBurn.exe's do not suffer the same fate but then they won't run on Windows 98! So really, that only leaves me with 1 option.... to stop compressing the exe until either of the problems are fixed. So, do you think this is only an issue for those of us with AOL? I know AOL sucks, but I get free McAfee. How about uploading the UPX version for those of us that have this problem? I haven't been able to use imgburn for a few months now and my other burning software is so slow!
