I was burning at 8x only too. Should I try to burn at a slower rate? Anyway to fix these errors?

Using Phillips DVD+R 16x media.

-Thanks

Verify the disc against that same image a 2nd time and see if the errors are in the same places.

It's difficult to say where the errors are coming from exactly. It could be a duff burn or the drive could just be having trouble reading it (normally caused by a duff burn!). There could also be corruption somewhere in the system.

I tried to verify with my DVD writer and DVD-ROM. I get different errors each time. :/

Btw what is duff burn? I tried Googling it and nothing but Hilary Duff links -_-

Using Phillips DVD+R 16x media.

and the media your using certainly isnt helping , anything made with CMC-MAG dye/ink is low quality im afraid

CMC lasts anywhere between 1 minute and 1 month, and not usually any longer LOL

seriously though, if you want to be able to read that dvd in a few months time, you want to change to a better class of media , as in this case the drive is struggling to read back from the disc within minutes of you creating it on the same drive

Posted

Check out Drives/Media section of this forum and look up the tests with lots of different CMC dyes - Whilst the graphs are pretty colours, red isn't a good sign in the quality scans  As volvo said they are amongst the shitest dyes out there so get the Verbs MCC or Taiyo TYG dyes instead.

I have the same problem when using Optiarc DVD RW AD-7173A.

As I found searching different forums, this is a typical problem with some new DVD drives.

The advise to use another media doesn't help.

Does it have any sense that in the log above

Niti which firmware are you using in your optiarc

I am using factory firmware 1-01. My DVD-RW drive is primary slave. No virtual drives or other emulators are used. Windows is running UltraDMA mode after refreshing the driver. There are no reasons to suspect RAM.

Below there is the full report for your information. During next session errors also exist, but on different places. I try different media, but always get verification errors.

Also I have noticed that OFFSETS are every time the same: 578, 962, 890, although they appear on different sectors...

I think that it is not ImgBurn problem, but as you are professionals who know what happens (for me this reports is of little use), maybe you can give some response.

Thank you!

have you got another drive you could verify the disc against image file

Yes, I verified the disk against image file on another recorder - and it gave only 1 mismatch instead of 3. But ImgBurn froze at the very end of this verification.

Posted

scan the hard drive for errors you have the ISO your verifying against, just tick top box to auto fix file folder errors, just to rule it out, turn off compression on the hard drive you have iso on as well if your using ntfs and compression.

or try a different disc maybe a -R write once

Posted

I have localized the problem: I burnt one big file to DVD, and then simply copied it two times to hard drive and compared those copies. They were different in many places. This means that my drive reads disk with random errors. I have to note that this happens with any disk which I try. No wonder verification did not pass.

This drive is connected with good cable, and as the only device on that cable, being set as master.

I think I should return that drive back to the shop where I purchased it - this is definitely not normal.

Strange?

Even though I had those miscompare errors, I tried playing it on my DVD player and PC and it works fine! What exactly does this error do?

I also experience when verifying DVD-R recording.

Without going into lengthly logs, I tried it on one machine, then another, and both same.

So i switched to DVD Decrypter and was able to burn ISO image that was created with ImgBurn without problems.

Using same drive, same media, same everything.

So there is some kind of bug in ImgBurn.

Thanks.

I could suspect that the verify part only checked if the burned disc could be read and it never compared it to the actual source file.

Cynthia is correct.

I don't recall DVD Decrypter doing a byte level compare so it would never have picked up miscompares, just bad sectors that couldn't physically be read by the drive.
