bru
I recently burned some Dual layer CD's at 2.4x which was normal and speed was set to max, next I burned a regular DVD+ media which was rated at 16x with my Sony DVD drive rated at 16x, the image file would not burn any faster than 2.4x which seemed to be Image Burn software related problem, I usually burn at 16x with other soft 3rd party software. I tried another burn setting the write speed to 16x instead of max but it refused to write any faster than 2.4x, any suggestions as to why this is happening? I sent you a donation the other day I was quite pleased with the program after burning several Dual layer DVD's without any problems in my 64bit XP, other 3rd party products gave me nightmares when trying to burn DL DVD's with WinXP 64. Thanx Bruce

LIGHTNING UK!
If your drive can't even keep up with 2.4x write speed, something must be wrong. Humour me and just follow the post in the FAQ about resetting DMA anyway. I'm not overly fond of the media you're using (nor might your drive be), but that's your decision to make. Humour me and just follow the post in the FAQ about resetting DMA anyway. I'm not overly fond of the media you're using (nor might your drive be), but that's your decision to make. I uninstalled the primary IDE driver and let it re-detect it again, it seems to have helped, I tried another burn and it averaged about 10x, only toward the end of the burn did it manage 12 to 14x, I tried a Memorex 16x disk and the results were the same. I think the problem is the 64 Bit IDE driver, i'm going to see if their is an updated VIA driver as I think it should still do better than an average of 10x, do you think the ASPI layer driver could be holding everything back, I remember having this problem back in the Win98 days, also I see their is a newer version of Image Burn, do you think this new version will help? polopony
FYI trying to burn at 16x doesn't acomplish anything the quality of the burns drops off after 12x , Id say most of the Beta Team burn at 8x and the numbers are constantly in the 90's (%) As for media Verbatim +and - ,Taiyo Yuden discs are definetly the way to go everything else is trash by comparison ,you can look in the media and drives forum see what the quality is for the different media and also www.digitalFAQ.com has media listings If you get into Dual Layer stuff Verbatin is the ONLY discs to use
lfcrule1972
In my experience of the testing discs for the forum my drives only reached 16x on rated media towards the very end of the burn as expected.
karen cito
You might have DMA problems, in which case, just follow the post in the FAQ. I had the same problem with a really slow DVD burn. The ImgBurn folks solved the problem for me. It turned out that Windows XP slows down the disks turning them from DMA to PIO without you knowing it. See the references at http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=4032 Good luck! Karen Cito
