simcity7 Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 I burned an image onto a Verbatim DVD+R with no problems, but my DVD player just says "Cannot read disc". Any suggestions?
lfcrule1972 Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 We could make a few but a copy of the relevant ImgBurn log would really help us - please can you post it up ? If you look under Help/Imgburn Logs you will see that the program saves them for you ! A bit more info would help too - what is the film ? Does the original play in the same player ? etc etc
dontasciime Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 set it to dvd-rom by clicking book icon at bottom right before you burn or search in google to find out if your drive can do it a lot now can, newer pioneer writers automatically do this for you. A lot more info from you would be more helpful, image to dvd is vague .

dontasciime Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 you have usb2 in the PC you have, IF so something has gone wrong with it, the speeds your getting are terrible and look more like usb1, not worth using usb1 with anything especially writers.# You in Europe or US as the dvd player you have and Tv If in Europe will have to play Ntsc at a guess from identifier. does not look like the 109 is setting booktype to dvd-rom, i know the 110 111 112 auto do this I kinda thought the 109 does but that might be cos i got a hacked firmware in mine..
simcity7 Posted March 15, 2007 Author Posted March 15, 2007 I'm in Canada, so yeah I can play NTSC. I really don't what you mean by USB1 and USB2 and I don't know how to change it. Also if changing the booktype to DVD+ROM might make work then I will try it, but I don't know how to do it.
dontasciime Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 the pioneer 109 cannot set booktype to DVD-ROM unless you put in a hacked firmware for a buffalo drive if i remember rightly. So if your not prepared to goto those lengths then i would suggest getting some verbatim DVD-r media and maybe using the 109 in your computer on an IDE cable rather than connecting it via usb The speed your 109 is writing at and verifying suggests that your computer is using usb1 which is no good. Is the pioneer 109 connected to the usb ports at the back of your computer eg the motherboard usb slots or are you using a PCI card that gives you extra usb ports, or are you using front usb ports on tower case ?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 lol 0.7x speed! Welcome to the world of continual buffer underruns! You need to ditch the monitor usb connections and see if you have proper USB 2.0 ones in your PC anywhere. If you don't, you should invest in a USB 2.0 PCI card or something.
simcity7 Posted March 15, 2007 Author Posted March 15, 2007 I give up. I'm just gonna burn this god damn thing at someone else's god damn house. I've wasted too many blank DVDs, I'm fed up. Why can't my computer just work?
dontasciime Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 can you not install the 109 into the towercase instead or what make of computer do you have surely it has to have usb 2 ports.
simcity7 Posted March 15, 2007 Author Posted March 15, 2007 It's a fairly new Dell, and apparently it doesn't have any.
lfcrule1972 Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 My Dell is 3.5 years old and it has USB2 ports, on mine there are 2 at the front and some more at the back..... take a carefule look round and see where there are other USB ports on your case.
simcity7 Posted March 18, 2007 Author Posted March 18, 2007 Sorry for over-reacting, I think I might have found out the problem. I'm only supposed to burn the VOB, IFO, and BUP files, not the PLS and MD5 files that came with it, right?
polopony Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 You actually take those VOB,IFO and BUP files and create an ISO image and IB will burn that just fine ,you use build mode to create the iso and then write mode ,check out the GUIDES FORUM for a step by step and no you dont burn the MD5 or PLS files
simcity7 Posted March 18, 2007 Author Posted March 18, 2007 ... Guess what... I created the image file with the VOB, IFO, and BUP files, including the MD5 and PLS files. No wonder it didn't work!
polopony Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 I guess you were taking no chances , its a fairly easy proccess once you do it a couple of times
