switched to Verbatim dvd-r but still get validation error

I'm still getting validation error after switching to Verbatim dvd-r disks, any ideas or help is appreciated.

What about the burner, it is brand new, I've burned some good dvd's (some did skip and get stuck, was using Memorex dvd +R) so I switched to the Verb. -r

I've also got the verification error with other software too.

Would it have anything to do with removing features such as sound or ... when I'm shrinking it?

Thanks, in advance, this is driving me nuts.

Almost forgot, I'm using Vista Home Premium would this be problem or have antivirus software running?

Here's the log from the last trashed dvd.

Your burner can't read what it just burn't, thats the reason for the failed verification process. This is a newer burner but you could try looking for firmware updates for it...... www.rpc1.org Theres been some problems with this burner under Vista, some users have had to switch to XP compatibility mode in order for it to work proper. Just google your model number and read. Also you should update Imgburn......... now at 2.3.0.0 Your using 2.2.0.0

thanks, for the quick reply, I will try the suggestions.

as for the +R, I was using Memorex +R, but had some issues with the playing dvd getting stuck and skipping, could that be because of the burner or the type of disk? I tried the -R because I was thinking that maybe it the dvd player it was in, thought the -R was better compatibility to players?

As for the XP compatibility, I should be able to find out what that is when I google my burner?

thanks again. I'll let you know how it turns out.

As LUK just said, try some Verbatim +R media first, all else mostly cause the user problems. Update your version of Imgburn as well, then if these suggestions fail, look for help with your samsung burner.

Your Memorex +R were probably CMC dye discs and they're useless!

Verbatim +R MCC dye ones should be much better. If you get 16x ones, just stick to 8x or 12x for the write speed. You should get a really good burn that way.

Your drive should booktype the +R's to DVDROM so you won't have any compatibility problems in that sense.

Well, some new good results:

1) I tried updating the firmware, although I believe it is up to date (0414 from HP website, also seen that in the log), even though when I tried to update I got an error, some shit about my system not being compatable, even tried the XP compatibility setting. But any way.

2) didn't get the Verb +R discs yet, couldn't get my ace out of the house.

3) Updated Imgburn to 2.3

Results are in: ........ burned 2 dvd's, back to back on the Verb -R ..........no verification error's........

the first dvd seemed to play ok on my dvd player of what little I could watch ............ nearly pissed my pants with excitement to get back to waiting on the 2nd dvd ......... I'm off to see the results of this one, as the original was nearly destroyed by the kids.

THANKS guys, I will let you know of any other results.

I've got the verb+R, getting ready to try a burn with them, but I've noticed that imgburn did not change the booktype to the dvdrom? See disk info below. I try to change the book type, but it does not change.

Any ideas??
