astrowolf67 Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 Hi all, newbie here I've recently (yesterday) started using imgburn to burn my image files. I've run into some problems, and the latest is this one. As soon as I hit the write button I get an error "program memory area is full". I've searched the forum, and found no results for this one. Attached below is the log file from my latest attempt. Thanks for any help, David I 23:46:22 ImgBurn Version 2.3.0.0 started! Shamus_McFartfinger Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 Probably a hardware error. Grab the latest firmware (link below) for your drive and see if that fixes it. ftp://ftp.benq-eu.com/dvd-rw/firmware/dw1655/dw1655_bcib.zip
LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 Indeed, these are drive errors, not software errors. I'm also wondering why those 8x discs are not registering as such in your BenQ? Are they real 'MCC 02RG20' ones?!
astrowolf67 Posted April 8, 2007 Author Posted April 8, 2007 Indeed, these are drive errors, not software errors. I'm also wondering why those 8x discs are not registering as such in your BenQ? Are they real 'MCC 02RG20' ones?! I hope they are real, I just got them from the local Sam's Club yesterday. Could the reason they are not registering as 8x be that I have imgburn manually set at 4x? I'll check into the firmware upgrade, never done that before. Thanks a bunch! David
cornholio7 Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 Could the reason they are not registering as 8x be that I have imgburn manually set at 4x? no , the drive would show all supported speeds and 8x should be supported for those discs if they are real verbs try the firmware update and see what speed is supported then

mmalves Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 Could you post the full log of that burn, please? Sometimes the real error is something else than what you think
mmalves Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 ImgBurn automatically saves the log file, and you can get it by going to the Help menu then clicking ImgBurn logs.
sgdcf Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 here is the full log I 12:41:48 ImgBurn Version 2.3.2.0 started! mmalves Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 Your burner's firmware (A104) is quite old, so download here the latest firmware for your burner (make sure you're clicking the A117 link of the GSA-4120B line) and run the A117RPC1.EXE executable from the ZIP file you've downloaded. Remove any disc from your burner and close the tray before updating the firmware. Also, you'll have to reboot after updating.
lfcrule1972 Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 Also those disc you are using are not very good quality and we would never recommend anyone to use them, I 12:45:10 Destination Media Type: DVD+R (Disc ID: CMC MAG-M01-00) (Speeds: 4x) Here we recoomend quality media like Verbatim or Taiyo Yudens.....
