kevdriver Posted April 15, 2007 Posted April 15, 2007 quinnsta, Destination Media Type: DVD+R DL (Disc ID: RITEK-D01-01) I believe a major part of your problem is these blank media your using. Try getting some Verbatim DVD+R DL media, these are just about the only ones that do the job right. The Riteks are pretty weak at DL burning.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 15, 2007 Posted April 15, 2007 Hmm I also notice it didn't automatically change the booktype to DVDROM as it should have done. You've not disabled that option on the 'Write' tab in the settings have you? That could be due to the same finalisation issue though - caused by using awful DL media.

When i do into settings i don't see an option for Booktype at all. I will look agian. You said it was in the wirte tab correct? In addition i have been reading all over that VB dual layers are the only way to go. I should be good with an VB+r disc? or do i need to get them from a certain place?

I just looked and the write settings are set to Write Mode Auto Write Type DAO Link Size Auto and the Auto Change Book Type is Ticked.
kevdriver Posted April 15, 2007 Posted April 15, 2007 quinnsta, Could just be the media causing the booktype problem as well, Get some Verbs and try the burn again. As for buying Verbs, where do you live?
chewy Posted April 15, 2007 Posted April 15, 2007 http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2361 GSA-H42L - SL01
quinnsta Posted April 15, 2007 Author Posted April 15, 2007 http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2361 GSA-H42L - SL01 I live in the chicagoland area: I have Frys tiger direct, and then of course best buy and CC. Chewy, Thanks for the Firmware link....The drive is pretty new like 3 weeks old, is this frimware upgrade new? Regards, Ryan
volvofl10 Posted April 15, 2007 Posted April 15, 2007 well the link chewy gave you is to a newer version than what you have. your on vSL00 and chewys link is for vSL01. although a drive may be new to you, just off the shelf. it may have been released in other countries some months before, and could have been sat in a warehouse for 3 months as well. its also available on the support page of LG 's Uk site

I can't believe that they are allowed to seel this crap in the stores. With the Memorex i have burned about 5 coasters so far. Any one know if the Verbatiums will play in Sony DVD's players, or the PS#? Thanks Agian for all the help this board has been great. Ryan
cornholio7 Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 the main problem you have is your media, i'm sure with the latest firmware(which is regularly updated btw) and verbatim discs, your troubles will be gone
polopony Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 I have a Sony dvd player model 725 and it plays Verbatim +and - just fine without booktyping, it also plays Taiyo Yuden and Ritek GO4 discs without issue BTW anything Memorex is not very popular around here including drives I dont think anyone would reccommend you buying one if asked ,Pioneers,Plextor , Lite On , Nec , LG, BenQ make up the vast majority of drives we use and of those there are some dogs also
volvofl10 Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 just to add , LG are hit and miss with there writers, in the sense that some drives they produce dont have any firmware updates and others have lots in a short space of time . example is the LG E20N has'nt had any updates yet ( in a month of release ) and the LG4120 is on the 17th update , of which the first 5 or so was within 4 weeks of its release. firmware adds writing instructions/strategys to a drive for more types/brands of media ( amongst other things) , so its worth keeping firmware upto date for that reason alone
lfcrule1972 Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 Verbatim DVD+R DL's (booktyped to ROM) play fine in my PS2, haven't tried them in the PS3 yet though but would expect if they don't play in there nothing will

I got some Verbs and my problems went away. The disc finalizes with no problems and plays in the PS3. Where have you found the best deal on the verbatium DL disk? Thanks
lfcrule1972 Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Well I got my last order of 20 from the US - there is a sticky post about it in the Chat forum I think... http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=2999 In the UK www.svp.co.uk do a good deal altho the stock sells fast...
