Poefue
Hello all. I'm sorda new at burning so this question might be newbish. I was using DVD decrypter to do my 360 backups and did about 10 successful till I read that Imgburn was the best. So I download IMGBurn and do a burn of oblivion, stops at 11% and says incompatiable media. I try a 2nd and 3rd time same error so I stop as I wasted a few bucks. I read the forums alittle and saw I had to set my booktyping, I go to click the book but I do not see my drive listed. Here is what ImgBurn says my drive is in Destination, I guess my question is when I click on Change Book Type, which of the drives should I pick. I know my drive can burn backups because I burnt a few so far. I have a Dell XPS M1710 if that helps anybody out. As far as just setting the book type to dvd+r dl, is there anything else I need to change, say laybreak like in DVDDecrypter? Thanks in advance guys!! Poefue
Ok I found the answer to my own question. It's made by Samsung. I'm going to do a test and burn Crackdown to Verbatim DVD+R DL and see how it goes. I'm having a bad feeling about it though because when I go to set my Book Type and pick Samsung and Pick DVD+R DL the settings says Unknown even when I hit the refresh button. Any reason for that. I will let you guys know how my burn goes and if it goes bad I will post my log, thanks again.
LIGHTNING UK!
The booktype stuff is done automatically on samsung drives - since v2.2.0.0 or so I believe.

Poefue
Ok I updated my firm ware and try to burn a backup that I know that works and here is what I've got for the 5th time. I was using a crappy media called melody before and had no problems from it and I thought I would upgrade to Verbatim DVD+R DL but I have unsuccessfully burned a backup with Verbatim yet. I guess I'm going to have to. I tried one more time with a backup that I burnt before and boom, fails at 11% like all the rest do.

dontasciime
was that a laptop drive like. Seem to remember seeing that drive fail or someone else with similar woes may have been another make of drive you get so many rubbish ones.
chewy
a google search for that drive yields lots of problems, dell doesn't help much either LG and Samsung make good standard drives but their oem's for laptops seem to have more than their share of problems Philips is another one Edited April 26, 2007 by chewy
