Numerous Bad DVD+R DL Burns

Recommended Posts

Just want to say I just recently found out that DVD Decrypter lives on through ImgBurn, something I'm very happy to see and be apart of.

Ok, well I just got my PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-112D (firmware 1.09) in today from newegg, along with a 20 pack of Verbatim DVD+R DL's. Now my drive is installed properly, DMA is on. My first 3 burn attempts have turned into 3 expensive, and ugly, coasters for my coffee. I first tried burning an iso that was created by ImgBurn, with the appropriate Layer Break selected. My last attempt was just to try and transfer the files directly to the DVD, but still I have set the Layer Break properly. My error message leads me nowhere (just says unknown) and now I am asking for some outside help. I went through the forums here but have found nothing like the problem I am experiencing, so included is my log (unfortunately I cancelled the verify in frustration so the log is cut off at the end). Any help is appreciated as I am tired of throwing my money down the sh*tter, thanks.

  • 2 weeks later...

I have the same problem with DVD+R DL and DVD-RW. I am using pioneer 112D and a Bytecc USB enclosure with my laptop. The burner only burned 1 disc successfully with only one entry of this error. for other discs I got a lot and the writing will hang there. I will return the burner and enclosure to get out of this trouble. FW has been upgraded to 1.15.

I RMA'd my drive back to NewEgg, and today my new one just arrived. It is a PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-112D 1.15 (ATA), manufactured March 2007. It already came with the new firmware so I had no need to update. Before trying to burn any media I went through a checklist of things:

Read Retail CD? YES

Read Burned CD-R? YES

Read Burned CD-RW? YES

Read Retail DVD? NO

Read Burned DVD-R? NO

Read Burned DVD+R? NO

Read Burned DVD+R DL? NO

So twice I've recieved a drive, and twice it has been a complete POS. I went with Pioneer for their name and the fact of having a good prior experience with their hardware but I guess things have changed. This is just a follow up to my post, obvious it was not an issue with ImgBurn, but I thank you guys for your support.

I've had half a dozen Pioneer drives and they've all been brilliant. (Well, except for the 120 which was a lemon). What seems to be the problem with your new drive? Same thing as above? FWIW, I installed a Pioneer 112D a couple of weeks ago and haven't had a drama with it. It's sounds more like a problem related to your drive (IDE controller, ribbon cable, motherboard etc..) rather than the drive itself. Particularly when 2 new drives from a reputable manufacturer fail.

hi there,

i have got exactly the same problem:

pioneer 112d, 115 fw, verbatim dl, same errorlog.

i tried reinstalling win xp, different chipset drivers, different psu, different cable..no success. the coasters i got cost more than the burner itself bc the leadout is written successfully every time.

any ideas appreciated.
