Build option skipping a chapter...

Have an odd one here. I have used ImgBurn to build a few dual layer .iso files from dvd folders. When the source material was one long file, everthing worked out just fine. However, when I am working with more than one video file on the same disc, the burned disc simply skips the first chapter of the second video file. Not skipping, jumping, or other signs of bad media- it just starts the second segment off with chapter 2 instead of chapter 1...

I can use the back button to get back to chapter 1 and view it. The video is there, and is perfect. It just seems that something is telling my dvd player to skip chapter 1 of the second video...

Anyone ever see this happen before? I can repeat it with any disc image I build that has more than one video file...

...What I mean, is if the source material is one long mpeg file, I do not encounter any issues. If the authored DVD is made up of multiple mpeg files- even if their properties (bitrate, etc) are similar, the finished dvd skips the first chapter of the second clip.

 

I have some material which fits fairly well on a single layer disc. If I try to put two of them on a dual layer disc, I lose the first chapter of the second clip.

This is nothing to do with ImgBurn, it's simply a burning tool.

 

You need to look at whatever program you're using for the authoring / conversion stuff.

 

If you're actually just writing *.mpg / *.avi files to a disc using ONLY 'Build' mode, your player must have duff support for those files. Check to see if there's a firmware update for your player.

I've tried several of these- after a couple of burns with successful verification, I stopped verifying after the burn, because I didn't feel that this was an area of concern. Here is the log from one of the early ones that I did verify:

This particular iso was built by a different authoring application, so I also did some later on, where I had the authoring software simply make up dvd folders, and then built the iso in ImgBurn. Same results- it skips the first chapter of the second clip...

...I haven't been having any problems with the media at all. Every DL disc I burn that is created from just one long mpeg file works fine, so for now- I'm running with the idea that perhaps the authoring software is screwing something up when authoring from multiple clips. With that in mind...

 

...Any recommendations on good authoring software? I don't mind paying for a good working prog to get some bells and whistles, but I don't have a Hollywood studio budget, either...any educated suggestions for good authoring software would be appreciated...

Do you have PowerDVD, WinDVD, Media Player Classic or VLC Media Player? Any of these programs allow you to preview the DVD before burning, which is quite handy.

Used MPC to open, view, and bounce around in the authored DVD folders, and the structure appears to be exactly as I planned it to be when authoring. I'm still leaning towards the build function causing an issue at this point. I've tried it on all of the players I have here, and they all demonstrate the same chapter skip...I'm stumped...
