The dreaded verify again... ;-)

Hi,

 

i try burning a DVD with a Toshiba SD-R5472 on a USB-ATA adapter and 2.3.2.0.

 

Burning works perfectly, and the DVD is ok afterwards. A file-level compare over

the complete DVD-R with about 4 GB Data (i use an UDF file system, due to the path depth).

 

On the verify, the tray slides out, goes in again, then the drive sputters aroud for some time, then i get a dialog

 

"I/O Error!

Interpretation: Check Condition

"Try again" retries it, "Continue" shows the next sector and so on...

 

Again - the disc or at least the files on it are perfect.

 

This happens on every DVD-R i tried. I had only Memorex with the Media Type:

"DVD-R (Disc ID: CMC MAG. AM3) (Speeds: 4x; 6x; 8x; 10x; 12x; 14x; 16x)"

I would try some better media such as Verbatim.

No need for a debug log there... a normal one is enough

 

The drive is simply unable to read those sectors and is timing out after 10 seconds - hence the error code being returned to the program - and then displayed by the program "Timeout on Logical Unit".

 

Besides ditching the CMC media, you might like to try the TU03 firmware update.

TU02 seems to be the problem - i applied TU03, and since then three of the same CMC batch burned and verified without a hitch.

 

As i had three burns with errors that don't find an error in a file-to-file compare on TU02, and now three without error on TU03, same DVD-R spindle, i'd say the firmware is the issue...
