i recently upgraded to the newest version yesterday.since that time i have been getting weird log messages everytime i try to burn something and then it shuts down in the middle of burn.--anybody have any ideas?is it my drives or imgburn?they read perfectly just dont burn.this is last log from this morning.

There's not much you (or anyone else) can do if the bus (or something on it - i.e. the drive) resets.

 

As with most of these odd errors, you just have to try a million and one different things to find the cause and hopefully a solution.

 

i.e. update the drives, update the firmware, update the bios, change the cable, change the media, clean the drive, put the drive on it's own channel, try the drive in a different pc, try a different drive in your pc. You get the idea :)

thanks for the info,but what all of a sudden started this?i was getting i/o errors so i read the forum and seen where you said to enable debug mode so i tried that and when it loaded it went to "busy" and stayed that way till the comp suddenly rebooted itself.freaked me out....also when i restart the computer it seems to load ok then goes into the crazy stuff.should i just get another drive?would that solve whats happened?cause this is unexpected after its ran so great these few years.hypothetically nothing has changed in the computer or its programming.theorectically only upgrades of programs.here is the last log when i ran the debug.

Things break, Could be your psu, could be your drivers, some corruption in ram, virus, spyware, As mentioned above could be one of a million things.

 

A clean install would rule out many. (you may not be able to re-install if your psu/memory/cpu is faulty).

 

you could run memtest to check your ram.

 

check the temps of your cpu with core temp 095 or everest.

 

get spybot search and destroy and make sure your antivirus is up to date and run a check for spyware and viruses.

 

try that drive in another comp if you have one or try another drive in your comp/ check cables are in secure.

yeah,but this computer in question is never been hooked to internet.its for burning and ripping only.plus it gets scanned once a day with avast.plus its hooked to a filtered air conditioner vent that stays around 65 degrees.if the cpu was faulty or the memory i would think it would have effect on other programs that run on the comp wouldnt it?"thats the first thing i thought of was corrupt files but they been checked.there is only iso files on the hard drive and win xp system.i hate to do a clean install since ill have to move every thing in storage so it dont delete.but ill do it

theres a 1c firmware available for that drive,

 

I'd be tempted to try another brand of media first though( a better type as well than ritek) , then a firmware upgrade

haha i take it you dont like maxells?actually tried lots of others but never had any probs with maxell.i have a 600 dollar player/recorder in the house that wont read anything but tdk. or burn imation..and wont read the imation.. its in the closet...go figure

At the end of the day, computers do not reboot for no reason.

excuse me ....but who said they did?i said mine would reboot after imgburn went to busy mode and sat like that for say 5 minutes.also i am surfing for firmware for my drive at sony but it keeps sending me to nero and they dont have any kind of tool or firmware for my burner???

You do not need to be connected to the internet to get spyware, It comes in many guises and hidden within many different types of programs.

hey thanks a million!!!i got it and doin a re-install of xp b4 i load it..yes i watch everything that goes on the other comp.and yes i know its got 256 ram and thats low but it been so good running i hesitate to screw with it (if it works dont f--- with it)but i may need to think about that.yeah spyware sucks i do have spy bot on this one but not that one.only thing on other one in question is dvd decryptor, shrink and imgburn.which i hope none is spyware infiltrated!!!actually seems like when i got the sony burner i did go to nero to get some kind of a file for usage.cant remember.

Look at the 'available' ram though!! That's just crazy low.

 

If you think it's been running 'so good' so far, stick a couple of gig in it and it'll seem like a totally different beast.

It could still turn out to be a hardware related issue eg the actual drive being screwed. Ram is so cheap now and so are drives it should not hurt you that much in the pocket department.

 

Which CPU is it and do you know what size psu is in that case and what the available amps on 12v line are ?

 

If your running say an athlon 64 you need at least 20 amps on 12v line for a stable system without the fear of the psu being under heavy strain and threat of going POP/POOF/ or what ever sound they make when in agony and death.

I see there are few uk companies which have ddr 3 1006 /1333 memory now.

 

 

I like my corsair xms leds though , might get some of those ballistix modules though

I think they're at 1000 now as the cpu is slightly overclocked to 3ghz (from 2.66). The next divider up took them over the 1066 rated speed and I really wasn't fussed about that bit extra - overclocking really isn't my thing. Takes far too much time to get things just right and I can't be doing with all the machine reboots / power cycles.

 

I only really got them because I wanted 4GB in the machine and the 4GB of GSkill 6400 HZ I had were total crap and wouldn't work together in any of my boards.

 

The GSkill are now sitting in my cupboard collecting dust :)
