LIGHTNING UK! Posted August 22, 2007 Share Posted August 22, 2007 The drive doesn't like the discs you're trying to use and cannot initialise them. Until is does, no software can access the media. Im sorry Im new at this and wasnt sure how to use this forum. thank you for ur info.... but how do i update the firmware on the drive? or determine diffrent dye on discs? LIGHTNING UK! Posted August 22, 2007 Share Posted August 22, 2007 To look for firmware updates, load ImgBurn and click... Tools (menu at the top) -> Drive -> Check for firmware updates. Normally it's easy to check the dye on a disc but of course if your drive can't see them, it's not actually possible! All you can do is buy some discs from an online store that specifies the 'media id' by the side of the product information. btw, are you sure you have a DVD burner and not just a dvd reader / cd writer? If you look in the log window it'll tell you which devices the program found. Copy + paste it all if you like and we'll tell you either way.
