Howdy folks,

Have tried twice now and getting same results burning a DVD using the guide from Cornholio7 (nice guide btw).

Seems it is failing on verification; here is the error:

And here is the log:

Although the DVD is playable in my DVD player, it stops around the time it gets to the 2nd VOB file (VTS_01_2.VOB). This is my understanding anyway as I am new to this game.

Having read a couple of posts with similar issues, I am thinking it *may* be down to the DVD disk I am using (Data Write DVD-R (Taiyo Yuden)) - it would appear from some of your posts that Taiyo Yuden imitations are not good.

Anyway, would be glad to hear your thoughts/suggestions.

Many thanks,

hi and welcome to the board, you have some inferior discs, try looking for genuine taiyo yuden or verbatim discs

Thanks Cornholio7,

One more thing (anyone), am looking at www.svp.co.uk to get some Taiyo Yuden DVDs, any ideas how to spot the phoney ones? I think I need to get TYG02 or TYG03, but would like some confirmation please.

If you know of a better supplier, then that would be nice too.

Cheers,

svp should fix their web page

Taiyo Yuden 8x Unbranded DVD-R

but in fine print

This is the unbranded version of the Taiyo Yuden 16x DVD-R

yet they say

ADVDInfo: TYG02

not that tyg03's aren't any good

Glad someone else noted the anomolies on the svp site.

Going back to what Cornholio7 said: "you have some inferior discs, try looking for genuine taiyo yuden or verbatim discs"

I found some Verbatim DVD-Rs at work and am getting exactly the same error:

Hello Folks,

I am sorry if I am not posting this properly, but this is my first time and I am having troubles, I am attempting to burn a movie from my computer to a DVD, it was esy enough to get imgburn to work and when i placed the burnt dvd into my dvd player, I could see the video but there was no audio, does anyone have an idea? I would appreciate it, I hate to keep throwing out disks.

from SVP i've always used these genuine Taiyo Yuden -R 8x TYG02

http://svp.co.uk/products-solo.php?pid=164&prepg=2

i know Cornholio used to use them as well, they are -R 8x discs, ive never tried the unbranded ones from svp though.

some discs other than taiyo yuden use the TY dye/ink , however ive never found another brand that is as good as genuine TY's .( verbatim and fuji included)

I tried verbatims years ago, but my panasonics didnt like them, hence my move to REAL taiyo yudens with TYG02 dye/ink,

something is wrong?

Destination Media Type: DVD-R (Disc ID: TYG02) (Speeds: 2.4x, 4x, 8x)

nevermind my benq 1620(same drive does the same thing with other programs)

I wouldn't try 2.4x burning tho, if firmware allows it

Sorry guys, was meant to post an update here last week but clean forgot.

Thanks to the last 2 suggestions from chewy and dontasciime, I tried to burn the same image at 8x speed, and it bloody well works!

I assumed the slower the write, the better chance of it being written successfully and also better chance of it being read successfully. Shows what I know!

Thanks to all who helped - very much appreciated.
