mattcalica Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 Hi, I am getting an I/0 error that is saying Logical block address error out of range. I have two SH-s203b burners in my computer; the image will burn on the first burner, but not the second. I am using verbatim discs. I have tried 3 times already, and there have been 3 coasters. I've read up on the problem, but nothing really answered my question, since I have two identical drives, but one is getting errors with the same image...Here are my logs: I 14:29:22 ImgBurn Version 2.3.2.0 started! If anyone could help me out, that would be awesome. If it helps, the drive that works is E:, while the drive that is getting errors is G:. Would that cause problems? I am thinking it's some kind of power distribution error.
mmalves Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 Update to the latest firmware available (SB01). You might also want to try burning at 16X (or slower) rather than MAX, which is 18X for those discs.
mattcalica Posted October 25, 2007 Author Posted October 25, 2007 okay, so I called dell tech support, they were no help. I switched the sata cables around, so I switched the top drive to sata 2 and the bottom drive to sata 1 to see if I had a faulty drive...nope, this time the top drive gave the error. So it's not the drives and it's not the media. I went so far as buying a new sata cable for sata 2, but nope, still getting errors. Can someone help me! I have a feeling it has something to do with the format in bios. IDK, any help would be appreciated.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 There's no real explaination for this. If you can swap the cables and the error goes wherever sata 1 goes (100% of the time - you'd probably need to test this 10 times or something), it must be a controller issue or a driver that's messing up the burns on just that one channel (unlikely). Have you actually done the SB01 firmware update now? Did you try burning at 12x?
dontasciime Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 change the sata cable I had one just break out of nowhere even though it looked fine, Swapped cable and it was fine. Edit forget it, just noticed you said you bought a new cable.
