Can't burn files to disc

Hello alll,

 

I am trying to wrtie some avi's to dvd but when i click the build button I get a "this disk requires formatting" so i click yes and i recieve the following error:

Is it a brand new disc never formatted b4 if so you will need to do a full format and not quick

 

 

edit I typed b4 i fully read, have you got another drive you can try and format disc in

 

 

update the drives firmware I think from memory you have the intial firmware in that drive they are onto KLON now

update then reboot and try format again

You've got it connected to a controller that blocks the 'format' command.

 

See if there's an updated driver for it or remove the driver and hope the windows one works.

 

Of course if you have another controller to connect it to, do that.

As far as i am aware there isn't a contoller there i have it hooked up on the IDE ribbon so unless that goes through an enclosure/backplate/PERC/controller type item i am unaware of on the board.

If it's on an ide port, I mean the ide controller.

 

Perhaps you have it on a jmicron one? You might see a clue when you reboot the machine and look at the bios screens.

yep iyou are correct sir I have jmicron controller i am going to try ensuring that is up to date the firmware update didnt work

Why the hell mobo manufacturers keep using that company to do IDE is beyond belief do they not know there is something very wrong with it.

Stick 2 dedicated IDE ports back on and plenty of SATA as well. My god you pay enough for the latest mobo's.
