Disc Not Supported (Audio)

No matter what disc i insert, in read mode this is the message i get. I use Win XP SP2 and the latest version of imgburn of course. My dvd-rom is a Plextor PX-116A2 and the interface i use is Microsoft's SPTI.

Yes i know that, but as i said i get that message on every cd and/or dvd i insert. Doesn't matter if it's a data cd/dvd, a ps2 game and so on. Perhaps i wasn't clear enough on my previous post.

Copy + paste the info from the panel on the right when you've got one of the problem discs in the drive.

This disc it's a data dvd written by imgburn on a genuine that's (TYG02) and of course it works fine. I tried inserting a lot of different discs (none of them of course it's an audio cd) and i had exactly the same results.

Looks like a firmware bug as it's reporting incorrect TOC info and not saying the track is a data track.

I assume it's fine if you put the disc in a different drive?

My burner can't read that disc at all, it says that it uses a format that it's not compatible with Windows when i put the disc inside. My burner is a NEC ND 4550A with the latest firmware (1.09). However the Plextor can read the disc perfectly and i can access it's contents without any problems.

Also i tested this disc on another drive (it was probably an unbranded drive, i don't remember for sure) and it was also working fine there.

I uninstalled Alcohol more than a year ago. However as i see in the Autoruns i still have the sptd driver. Can this driver cause any conficts? Is it safe to completely delete the entry with Autoruns?

Update:

Ok it seems that my Plextor doesn't work correctly with imgburn. I tried inserting a lot of different discs, original pc, ps1 & ps2 games, discs copied by others etc. I always get the message that disc is not supported (audio). However the discs that can be read by my burner* (NEC ND-4550A) they work perfectly with imgburn in read mode and i can create the image.

* It seems that my burner can only read cd's and not dvd's! Seems like a nasty conflict there. In case you are wondering why i didn't say all this sooner, it's just i use my burner for burning purposes only and my plextor for all the reading purposes. Plus with other programs, (Ashampoo burning studio and/or nero for example) they never complained about the cd/dvd i wanted to create the image. And now i discovered all this i am wondering what is wrong with my drives.

My dvd-rom is a Plextor PX-116A2

From CD Freaks:

unfortunately it is not a "true" Plextor drive, but actually a Pioneer DVD-121...

Time to replace it?

Just try one more thing for me....

Eject the disc and then press the F8 button to enable debug mode.

Now reinsert the disc and when it comes up with 'Disc Not Supported (Audio)' in the status bar as it normally does, press F8 again.

Now copy + paste everything from the log window into your next post.

I'll try and implement a workaround for the next version.

My Ricoh DVD+RW MP5240A burner has the same bug with DVD-R.

Usually I use DVD+R discs, but recently I burnt two DVD-R with my Pioneer DVR-112 and wanted to verify them with my Ricoh DVD+RW MP5240A. Impossible with ImgBurn because this drive reports the data track as an audio track. However the disc works without problems in Windows.

This only happens with DVD-R discs in the Ricoh DVD+RW MP5240A, DVD-ROM and DVD+R are okay. Maybe because this drive can only burn +R media, the developers cared less about -R.

btw: Great app, I use it since Nero got that bloated. Thanks!

Hey, I have that drive also, but the dvd laser failed on it. So now its a cd reader/writer only.

I know that there is a newer firmware available. However I once had a problem with updating this drive - I'm happy enaugh that it is still working. So for this drive: Never change a running system.

When my dvd laser went on my drive, I thought a firmware update would fix it. I flashed to 1.19, but it still wouldn't read or write dvds, so I bought my current multi-format burner (LG GSA 4167B DL13, originally DL12).

Cool, learned something new today...appears F6,8, and 12 do something special. F6 sounds like it should log program activities, but I didn't see it do anything yet. F12 loads another instance of ImgBurn...not sure what that would be for other than maybe burning to 2 drives? What other cool little Easter Eggs are there?

I have this problem too. ImgBurn works fine on my LiteOn burner, but on my Pioneer reader I get this error with a Suse 10.3 DVD disc.
