Imgburn can't find the file directory

Hello,

My first time at Image Burn.

This question is related to system behaviour with Imgburn rather than the prog. itself.

The problem I have had across video programs such as Nero Vision Express 3 and Image burn is that the

seerch for a file or file lookup takes 45 mins. In NVE and never completed at all in Imagburn.

Is there a software element that can be found to prevent the stall? Error message issued is

'program not responding. I don't know if that merns Win2k or Imgburn but it happens on all these programs.

Is there a driver fix or patch that gets the program to complete the directory search?

You really should re install your operating system if that is happening.

You should also be checking IDE devices / cables for faults, say a DVD-ROM drive take it off the IDE cable and power supply and then try to browse for files etc and do same for all hardware connected to IDE until the window opens up within at least 30 seconds.

Replace all IDE cables.

A clean install first with chipset drivers then gfx at least would rule out driver corruption and point to hardware.

Yes I have a clean install in the works on a scratch drive. I was just surprised to see the same problem crop on Imgburn as Nero. But Imgburn would load it at all.

Well those file dialog boxes are generic ones built into the OS. All programs do is call the API function. So if you have a problem with 1 program, you'll have a problem with them all (assuming they use the generic box).

What might be related is a recent burn "problem" I've been dealing with.

I don't know if the d/l source is to blame or the burn process. The ISO loads and goes but then

finds errors. The job was done in Nero.

On media files like avi I have had zero problems and get burns of about 93% on the Nero Drive speed quality routine all teht iem suing Verbatim DVD+r with rom settings.
