circlek Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 I am trying to burn a movie image onto Verbatim 16x DVD+R disks. So far I have tried both Nero and ImgBurn. Both fail in a similar manner. The write appears to complete successfully, but the disk is never finalized and the drive continues to spin and the tray is locked. The PC must be rebooted to remove the disk. The disk will play correctly in my PC, but not in a DVD player, I suspect because it was not closed. Here is the ImgBurn log. Any ideas? I 09:56:09 ImgBurn Version 2.3.2.0 started! chewy Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 Destination Device: [0:2:0] what's your motherboard and chipset controlling that sata dvd burner?
circlek Posted December 5, 2007 Author Posted December 5, 2007 It's an Asus P5B (Intel 965P chipset).
circlek Posted December 7, 2007 Author Posted December 7, 2007 One piece of information I forgot to add... I can burn DVD's fine using Vista's built in burning tools... Only the third party tools seem to fail. Strange. It's an Asus P5B (Intel 965P chipset).
LIGHTNING UK! Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 When you think it's stuck on the sync cache bit, press the F8 key and look in the log window. If you see lines being added to it ever second, the drive (or some rogue driver) is just saying it's still busy doing something - I'm afraid there's nothing I can really do about that. Press F8 again when you're done to turn off I/O Debug mode again.

Keep in mind that Vista itself can burn DVD's fine on this PC, so I don't think it is hardware related. There are no filter drivers in the driver stack. If you see lines being added to it ever second, the drive (or some rogue driver) is just saying it's still busy doing something - I'm afraid there's nothing I can really do about that. LIGHTNING UK! Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 *stuck* would be where it's still doing it after 10 minutes, not just 10 seconds. Do you have any DVD-R discs? Does it do the same on those?
chewy Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 It's an Asus P5B (Intel 965P chipset). there's quite a few models with different configuration and our old favorite jmicron controlling a sata or 2 http://event.asus.com/2006/mb/P5B/models.html
circlek Posted December 16, 2007 Author Posted December 16, 2007 LIGHTNING, you sure got a cocky attitude. Tell you what, why don't I just uninstall your piece of *** software and I'll find one that works. LIGHTNING UK! Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 LIGHTNING, you sure got a cocky attitude. That's a bit harsh, I wasn't trying to be cocky at all. I just wanted to check it was still that same error code being returned when it really could be considered stuck - and I wouldn't consider it stuck after only 10 seconds - it's quite normal for the drive to return that error code after such a short period of time. Tell you what, why don't I just uninstall your piece of *** software and I'll find one that works. Erm ok, good luck with that. Your system has the problem here, not my piece of *** software. So far I have tried both Nero and ImgBurn. Both fail in a similar manner.
volvofl10 Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 Tell you what, why don't I just uninstall your piece of *** software and I'll find one that works. with such a bad attitude like the one you displayed, uninstalling ImgBurn is probably about the best thing you can do i reckon.then go and find a 1 click solution for your burning needs. then go and ask them stupid questions. I can see about 3 things in the log file that would cause you problems, but guess what ?? you dont need to know now youve uninstalled Imgburn
dontasciime Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 Stick the drive in a usb enclosure or buy a better PC If you do not understand about computers hardware and software what the fuck are you doing with one. And btw do not be so rude in future on any other forum you visit.
volvofl10 Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 and DONT slam the door behind you on your way out
doxola Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 Heh heh, I'm still looking for the cocky attitude in LUK's post...and I was hoping I wouldn't need to get glasses to help me see better... BAH! (Insert sound of door slamming!)
