Ok so going by your posts, you say you've tried it at 6x and 2.4x.

2.4x isn't a supported speed hence it's really 6x all over again.

Have you actually it at the rated 16x (or even 12x) ?

Posted

I can't really see as you have any choice.

If it fails again, they might aswell all be classed as coasters anyway - your drive seems to have problems with them and you'll need to buy some better ones (Verbatim / Taiyo Yuden).

That drive is really not up the to job of burning those discs properly (note the 1x, 2.4x write speeds), it's probably using a default write stratagy and producing a disc of questionable quality.

That said, if it works, at least the spindle isn't totally useless. You'll just need other discs if you want to burn on your Sony drive.

see the faq's for dma

if that's fine for the new burner then try moving it to the end of the cable as stand alone master and put it on the shortest power lead all by itself

you are using a new 80 conductor cable???

So instead of having your dvd burners share a cable, you have them share with your hard drives?

I never had much luck with anything sharing, but dvd burners that were never used at the same time.

My hard drives and dvd burners are always being used at the same time and they never share a cable.
