kuelmapp Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 (edited) Hello one and all I wonder if you can shed some light on a problem I'm having burning DVD +R DL disks. This is the first time I've bought DL disks (Memorex) and I cannot get my drive to burn anything to them. I've been using the drive (LG GSA 4160B) for months with single layer disks and never normally have any problems. Normally I use Nero, that did not work so I downloaded the latest version (6.6.1.4) and tried again, still no luck. I've tried ImgBurn 2.3.2.0 still no luck. I've updated the firmware from A302 to A306 (RPC1 & AUTO) not sure what the difference is but neither work. I've checked on line and the disks are supposed to be supported (RITEK S04 @ 5x). Here's the ImgBurn log: I 18:10:32 ImgBurn Version 2.3.2.0 started! LIGHTNING UK! Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 Forget about the Ritek S04, get some 2.4x Verbatim DVD+R DL's instead.
kuelmapp Posted December 27, 2007 Author Posted December 27, 2007 Forget about the Ritek S04, get some 2.4x Verbatim DVD+R DL's instead. Hi Lightning Not sure its a simple as that I've been playing with "Media Code Speed Edit" & "DVD Identifier" and my firmware A306 According to that only 4 types of DVD+R9 are supported:- MKM 001-000 PHILIPS 002-000 RICOHJPN D01-001 RITEK D01-000 I've now just modified that to:- RITEK S04-066 Reflashed & rebooted Still no luck. Is this warning of any real consiquence? "W 18:18:34 DeviceIoControl(IOCTL_STORAGE_MCN_CONTROL) Failed! - Media change notification has NOT been disabled." #39;(
LIGHTNING UK! Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 MKM 001-000 = Verbatim 2.4x DVD+R DL. Is this warning of any real consiquence? Well it means the program can't block the OS from polling the drive - meaning it could try and cut in at any moment and potentially kill the burn.

Well it means the program can't block the OS from polling the drive - meaning it could try and cut in at any moment and potentially kill the burn. Recently, I use ImgBurn with wine and Ubuntu 7.10. Is there any chance to avoid this message?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 Well if you know it's going to fail you can turn off the option to disable MCN in the settings. But that just hides the problem, not fixes it.

But that just hides the problem, not fixes it. Sure. I'm looking for a clue or at least a workaround how to grant ImgBurn exclusive access to the drive.
