stegzee Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 i cannot burn minus dvd's but have no problem with plus dvd's or dual layer or cdr, i can read from minus dvd's but when i burn to a minus dvd it locks up at 2% everytime, i have tried all kinds of media which perfect on the same drives with xp, but not on my laptop with vista. any ideas apart from the obvious and just use plus dvd's? here is a log from imageburn. chewy Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 http://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia?dvdmedia...h+or+List+Media which brand are they, some were not very good? some may be fake? where were they made? I don't want a shave tho
blutach Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Writing at "MAX" across a USB port is fraught with danger. Really, you should try to pop your burner on an internal IDE channel, or find some high quality media that burns at 1 or 2X max. Regards

Regards same if i use internal writer but still doesnt explain why i can burn dual layer and +dvd media at full 12x speed with ease. its only dvd minus media even with verbs.
chewy Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2454 your firmware must not like the dvd dash r's, looks like they came out with a few newer ones, maybe they got it right since then? just because you select a high speed does not mean that it burned anywhere near that speed, the logs show this
LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Ah what joy, another USB drive with the famous 'The semaphore timeout period has expired' error. You could Google that and find enough reading for the next 10 years.
dontasciime Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 Cannot say 100% but you might have better luck if you can find an enclosure that has the prolific PL-2507 (2506) chipset in it, Like the sumvision USB2 only enclosures as my Pioneers do not give that error using that chipset, however the PL-3507 which is usb2/1394 chip and which should be better hates all my pioneer drives.
