LIGHTNING UK! Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 Don't 'check' DMA, follow what it says and uninstall your IDE controller from within device manager. At the moment it's limiting you to 2x burn/read speeds.
Shamus_McFartfinger Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 All right, updated firmware, checked dma and turned on verify, same result. I haven't gotten new discs yet but I've tried 4 times with no luck I 11:20:42 Source Media Type: DVD+R (Book Type: DVD+R) (Disc ID: PRODISC-R05-01) (Speeds: 4x, 6x, 8x, 12x, 16x) Your problems are unlikely to improve while you use this media. Honestly, it's crap. I don't care that you've used them in the past and they seem OK. If they were any good, we'd use them ourselves. The fact that all of the regulars here don't use Prodisc should tell you something. Eliminate the known problem (in this case your media) and watch your problems dissapear. You *need* better quality media. You can't use good software with a good drive and crap media and expect good results. Put it this way, you can't make strawberry jam out of pigshit. It doesn't matter how many strawberries you add, it's still going to taste like shit.

cornholio7 Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 you still have dma issues. try checking your bios settings, you should be able to burn those discs at 16x (preferably at 8x or 12x though)
dontasciime Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 run this http://rs22tl.rapidshare.com/files/14861593/dl/resetdma.vbs reboot when prompted and if no prompt reboot anyways. If still the same change the Ide cable for another 80 wire one and set pio to master
mijobagi Posted February 4, 2008 Author Posted February 4, 2008 Said no resetable ATA channels found. So I'm assuming it did nothing, shall I try and make another coaster ??
Shamus_McFartfinger Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 I 14:08:21 Image File: F:\My Downloads\Movies\Hitman.R5.LINE.DVDR-DREAMLiGHT\dl-hitman\dl-hitman.img Downloading movies? Tsk. Tsk. The fact that your PC plays them just fine (even with no audio - which means you're missing a codec), leads me to believe that the problem is with the source file. Most likely an incompatibility with your player (PAL/NTSC). Hard to tell when we don't know where in the world you are. FWIW, there's nothing wrong with the above burn...... and you still have a DMA problem.
blutach Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 You get what you pays for, I guess. Probably the downloaded flick was mastered incorrectly. Fagettabatit. Regards
dontasciime Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 which mobo you got ? It's got to be using third party IDE and drivers. I think someone suggested look in bios, you need to do this and make sure UDMA is ON for IDE etc
mijobagi Posted February 4, 2008 Author Posted February 4, 2008 Naw, not downloading... just changed the name to see if you were paying attention.... yup, that's what I did. As for the mobo, I looked at it and couldn't see anything helpful. I'm using a Dell dimension 9150, not very old if that tells you anything. The burner in it died a while back and replaced it with the current one. I can't tell which jumper settings I need because it's not marked and I can't find them online anywhere but it works fine (well almost fine) In the BIOS I see nothing that I can change relating to DMA. The only options I see are to turn the device on or off, I looked at everything there... can it be named something else?
LOCOENG Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 On the back of the drive above the jumper pins there should be either a label or engraving that follows as such: CS = Cable Select MA = Master SL = Slave If the drive is at the end of the IDE cable, this drive should be set to MA. If it is connected intermediately the setting should be SL.
